A number of MRFF-uncovered violations of the Separation of Church and State are featured heavily in this story, illustrating just how widespread and virulent the connection between the military and disdain for religious pluralism truly is.
While MRFF is mentioned just once by Alternet, we were integrally involved in uncovering many of the listed examples of religious intolerance.
Excerpt from this article:
— In January of this year, ABC News revealed that the U.S. military was using military weaponry inscribed with passages from the New Testament, despite the fact that “U.S. military rules specifically prohibit the proselytizing of any religion in Iraq or Afghanistan” — a rule meant “to prevent criticism that the U.S. [is] embarked on a religious ‘Crusade’ in its war against al Qaeda and Iraqi insurgents.”
(The Bible-inscribed weaponry “allows the Mujahedeen, the Taliban, al Qaeda and the insurrectionists and jihadists to claim they’re being shot by Jesus rifles,” Michael Weinstein of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation told ABC.)

Alternet – Report: British Soldiers Using Models of Mosques for Target Practice
Please note that the ABC News “Jesus Rifles” story mentioned within this Alternet article was originally broken by the Military Religious Freedom Foundation on January 18, 2010

You are not doing anybody any favors, including yourself when you attack and belittle a group of people whos largest belief system relate to items such as 1) Honor your father and your mother 2) You shall not murder 3) You shall not commit adultery 4) You shall not steal.
I know you were a “wanna-be” growing up, but you are letting it show again Mikey.
Time to take a hard look at what you THINK you are doing AND WHY.
@DJ,
If the 4 items you listed were really the 4 largest items of belief in your chosen religion then I would have no comment to make here. But the stories I read in the papers and on the blogs every day prove a need for sites such as this one to exist and hopefully thrive. Those who see themselves as priviledged and endorsed by any flavor of sky daddy are really just attempting to influence their local political institutions into becoming a theocracy. The christians do it here and the muslims do it over there.
The only sane world is a truly secular world where religion is a private matter not a public matter as it too oftem seems to be broadcast as a virtue to be more pios than thou! Our constitution was set up that way and with Mikey’s help hopefully we can keep it that way.
