Mikey:

This country was not founded on Muslim faith Mikey. Why would you worry about some foreigners “feelings” getting hurt.

Your an Air Force officer. Who did you pray too when you needed strength?
DENVER — A watchdog group objected Tuesday to an evangelist’s invitation to speak at the Pentagon next month, saying his past description of Islam as “evil” offended Muslims who work for the Department of Defense and the appearance should be canceled.
Who cares if we offend Muslims. What about the 3000 citizens whose lives were offended. This country is not about Muslim. Besides, we are the infidels… remember. We interned Japanese back in the day. We dropped Atomic Bombs on innocent citizens. Maybe you should back off. We aren’t even close to offending folks these days. Seems to me we are pretty weak…
Mikey Weinstein, president of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, said inviting evangelist Franklin Graham to speak May 6, the National Day of Prayer, “would be like bringing someone in on national prayer day madly denigrating Christianity” or other religious groups.
It would also endanger American troops by stirring up Muslim extremists, Weinstein said. Are you really for real? Do you believe the things that are coming out of your mouth?

Are you Muslim? Why do you live here in America? How can you think this way if you really and truely are an American.

Hi Mr. (name withheld),

Thank you for your note to MRFF concerning the Graham appearance at the Pentagon during National Prayer Day. My name is Rick Baker and I’m a regional coordinator for MRFF living in Colorado Springs. Mikey is up to his navel in correspondence right now and I’m trying to help out by responding to a few that have been forwarded to me for review.

We do not believe America was founded on any specific religion but rather designed as a pluralistic secular nation in which all religions may flourish but none dominate. This is, of course, open to interpretation but I think most thinking Americans would agree that the Constitution prohibits any official American religion, nor should there be.
We worry about “foreigners” because they are all members of the human family. When a foreign national is in some way negatively affected by some prejudice or xenophobia we all are offended and damaged.

America is no longer an island. We are a part of a global community with new and pressing responsibilities.
Yes, we are at war with Muslim Nations but not with Islam. There is a political basis for the conflict which does not require a Crusade to be employed in our strategy. We must learn to separate one’s religion from their politics. If, their politics include religious hegemony it must be treated as a symptom and not a cause.

In cross section, MRFF is comprised of Christian, Jewish, Atheist, Agnostic, Buddhist, Muslim and other members. Strangely, we all get along and have mutual goals.

Mr. Graham’s appearance at the National Day of Prayer ceremony at the Pentagon would be a gross violation of constitutional provision in the form of the Lemon Test in that Mr. Graham’s appearance would demonstrate government favor and elevation of Christianity and his anti-Islamic rhetoric a denigration of another religion practiced in America. This is Christian Dominionism at its worst.

Real and true Americans do think the way MRFF does. I’m afraid it is those who would make America a Christian theocracy that are not thinking straight.

Why not join us in keeping extreme religious proselytizing and coercive measures to convert or upgrade our young men and women to a form of Christianity that would make the KKK cringe, from infecting our armed forces. Please visit our web site at www.militaryreligiousfreedom.org for more information.

Again, thank you for your E-Mail.
