Kristen Leslie

Kristen J. Leslie is a Professor of Pastoral Theology and Care at Eden Theological Seminary. She was previously an Assistant Professor of Pastoral Care and Counseling at Yale Divinity School, and has served as a consultant to the United States Air Force Academy on matters related to religious intolerance and sexual harassment and violence.

She has also consulted to New York Bishop Ernest Lyte of the United Methodist Church on clergy sexual misconduct issues, and has been widely interviewed by national media on her work in the fields of religious intolerance and sexual harassment/violence.

Her research focuses on intercultural pastoral theology; womanist and feminist pastoral counseling; pastoral theological implications of sexualized violence, particularly on pastoral counseling issues for survivors of acquaintance rape; and pastoral care with young adults.

Kristen received her Ph.D. and MA from The Claremont School of Theology, her M.Div. from Yale Divinity School, and her B.A. from The College of Wooster in Ohio. She is also an ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church and a former Adjunct Professor of Religion at Adrian College in Michigan.

Additionally, she is the author of When Violence is No Stranger: Pastoral Care and Counseling with Survivors of Acquaintance Rape (2002), and a co-author of Three Decades of Women Writing for Our Lives (1999).
