A MESSAGE TO OUR WEBSITE USERS
We at the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) web administration team take your online security seriously and have long taken protective measures to ensure the security of our users and their data on our website. Recently, our web hosting company detected an intrusion into their server system. Their investigation indicated that the intruders may have had access to limited user information, including usernames, email addresses, and the passwords of the users of the websites that they host, including but not limited to the MRFF site.
We do not have any reason to believe that this attack specifically targeted the users of the MRFF site or that the implications should raise any alarm for our users. However, we do feel that it is important to notify you of this attack.
It is advisable that if you used the same password for the MRFF site on other sites that you change those passwords as a precaution.
In the interests of security, we do encourage you to follow best practices in regards to password usage on the MRFF site or anywhere else on the Internet. Make sure you use a strong password – at least 8 (but more is better) characters and a mixture of lower- and uppercase letters, numbers, and/or symbols that are not being used for other accounts or sites. Using the same password for multiple online accounts significantly increases the risk of your online accounts being compromised.
With continued respect for your privacy,
MRFF web admin team
