Overheard in the interwebz is talk that maybe a Military coup could stop all the nonsense. No one in the conversation thought it was a “good” idea but couldn’t think of anything else.

I wanted to laugh. And cry.

I understand the tone BIPOC commentators take with me when I cheerfully enter their conversation to say something they’ve been saying for decades. I predict a lot of eye rolls in my future.

No, the Nationalist Christians are winning the battle for the heart and soul of our military at the moment. I anticipate a day when the tides turn and the stain upon our serving forces is removed by the cleansing power of sunshine and numerous audits!

Until then each of us must fight this war on the ground, each of us engaged in our own battles but all of us battling together. WeThePeople have got this. Our Constitution and Bill of Rights are our guiding light in the darkness of fascism, just as the founding fathers intended (as imperfect as they were).

We can talk about rebuilding later. Keep those thoughts inside to inspire you. Right now there is an enemy in our house. Shall we show them what we were taught to do to fascists?

I just want to say how deeply grateful I am for the thoughtful spotlight this article shines on the Military Religious Freedom Foundation and their courageous work to ensure that every person in uniform is respected and valued regardless of belief or non‑belief, reminding us that true strength in community comes from honoring all voices and upholding our shared values; as someone who writes about growth, imagination, and opening doors for understanding, I’m heartened to see advocacy like this that invites constructive dialogue and inspires each of us to lean into compassion, wisdom, and opportunity for positive change.
