Army Hell

Try looking down the barrel of a gun and tell me that you don’t believe in God as you piss yourself. If you don’t like my religion in my Army then GET OUT and leave us Christians alone! If you bring down our military then who will save you from our enemies?

(name withheld)

Dear (name withheld),

The Army may be made up of a majority of Christians, but that doesn’t make it a Christian Army and it certainly isn’t yours. It also belongs to those of other faiths and atheists.

You obviously are ignorant of our Constitution where religion is concerned, so I will make it very clear to you.

The very First Amendment to the Constitution reads:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion …”

Note that the clause is absolute. It allows no law. It is also noteworthy that the clause forbids more than the establishment of religion by the government. It forbids even laws respecting an establishment of religion.

“. . . no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.” (Article VI, Section III)

When Congress passed an act in 1962 to include “so help me God” in the oath, it violated the very Constitution that they swore to uphold. To make the oath with the words “so help me God” in it mandatory in order to join the military is outrageous and against our laws.

Thankfully, the Air Force stated today that the “so help me God” is now optional.

So, if anyone is bringing down our military by making “so help me God” in the oath of enlistment optional, then look no further than to the Air Force.

I suggest you take your anger out on the Air Force and tell them to “GET OUT and leave us Christians alone!”

Good luck with that!

Pastor Joan

Get out of MY Army you religious whackjob! It’s the United States Army, not the Army of God. It’s Religious fanatics like you who will be the end of the American Army. By causing dissension in the ranks amongst troopers based on faith, you are your ilk are degrading our ability to function as a whole. The Army will not let this happen again. After it allowed itself to be torn apart by fanatics like you at the outbreak of the Civil War, The Army, as an institution has had to learn the lessons of staying out of these affairs, less it becomes torn apart again.

I may be about 20 years older than when I worn the uniform, but I still remember that MY oath, was to defend the Constitution from all enemies be they foreign or domestic. That is something you and your American Christian Taliban seem to selectively ignore when it no longer suits your purposes. I am proud to have worn the title of Soldier, but people like you make me ashamed to be an American.

Two things for you. One, you want an Army with nothing but religious zealots like yourself in it’s ranks? Go make your own. Second, You don’t like the way the world works because it doesn’t slavishly follow your twisted creed? You’re gonna have a rotten life then.
