You have obviously never been in a foxhole, with the enemy breaching the perimeter, bullets flying all around you, as mortars rain

from the sky. Flew in an aircraft falling from the sky, or having lived 14 miles from a volcano not knowing if it were going to explode

horizontally or vertically.

You have never witnessed an individual regain their hearing, or cured miraculously without medical intervention. Nor have you

witnessed the initial breath of a new born babe, or the gasp of a dying man taking his last breath. You my friends

obviously have no hope, no vision of a Supreme being, to which you offer no sane reasoning as to why He doesn’t exist other than

to brush Him off as a myth.

You’ve been hurt, you’ve been ridiculed, you’ve probably been censored for your non beliefs in your lifetime, I get that, and by

destroying this nation’s military culture and traditions you are pleasing God’s very own Prophecy:

Mat 24:10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other,

Mat 24:11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.

Mat 24:12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold,

Mat 24:13 but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.

Mat 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

For you see, you are being used, and fulfilling man’s destiny. May God’s love, peace, and comfort be with you all.

Dear (name withheld),

Mikey has read your email and asked me to respond to you.

I see you have fallen for the lies being spouted by preachers, organizations and the media.

Mikey is Jewish – not an atheist. They use the atheist term knowing that it will rile their base.

Besides Mikey, there is the Board, Advisory Board (of which I am a part), volunteers and supporters of which 75% are Christians.

We currently have 35,000+ soldier clients (1 can represent 50) of which 96% are Christian.

We are neither an atheist organization nor anti-Christian.

The very First Amendment to the Constitution reads:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion …”

Note that the clause is absolute. It allows no law. It is also noteworthy that the clause forbids more than the establishment of religion by the government. It forbids even laws respecting an establishment of religion.

“. . . no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.” (Article VI, Section III)

This means that they cannot add “so help me God” to the end of the oath and make it MANDATORY for all people…including those of other faiths or no faith…in order to join the military.

When Congress passed an act in 1962 to include “so help me God” in the oath, it violated the very Constitution that they swore to uphold.

Here is the original oath written by the Congress of 1789. This oath was actually two oaths, both of which were required for both officers and enlisted:

“I, A.B., do solemnly swear or affirm (as the case may be) that I will support the constitution of the United States.”

“I, A.B., do solemnly swear or affirm (as the case may be) to bear true allegiance to the United States of America, and to serve them honestly and faithfully, against all their enemies or opposers whatsoever, and to observe and obey the orders of the President of the United States of America, and the orders of the officers appointed over me.”

Notice there is no mention of any God.

Romans 13:1 “Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.”

The Constitution is our governing authority and we must obey it.

If you still believe that this latest addition – so help me God – should be included in the oath, then this is what God says:

“But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven (so help me God), neither by the earth, neither by any other OATH, but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.” James 5:12

So, according to the bible we are not to swear to ANY OATH and especially not to SWEAR BY HEAVEN (God).

If you are intent on pushing an OATH and asking for the soldiers to SWEAR BY HEAVEN (God), then you are not following the infallible Word of God you profess to follow.

Pastor Joan,

I am of the age to have witnessed God and prayer taken from our public education system, and you are witnessing the results today. In my youth, we didn’t lock our homes, take the keys out of our cars or fear walking alley ways. We respected one another, and did what was morally correct. My 15 yr old currently attends Christian Academy School here in Sidney, and worships daily in the classroom. I’m a firm believer in creating a student’s foundation in faith, then sending them into a secular world as our future leaders. We are blessed to be able to not only contribute our taxes to a school system we don’t even use, as well as pay for private education.

Outwardly organizations that are currently stripping God from the very institutions that many of us have served proudly for decades, do not set well, nor do we agree to hold the same literal interpretations of the U.S. Constitution that others obviously see as a hindrance.

Your very reference to the Act of Congress in 1962 does not reflect the views our society and those obviously by Congress during that period, by placing God above all things in this life, to include politics, even if it appears on the surface to those more liberal minded in today’s society to jump on the bandwagon and strip this government of all spiritual reference, based upon their interpretation of a clause from over two hundred years ago. Seems Jesus taught us more than enough about man’s interpretation of the Laws through his confrontation with the Pharisees and Sadducees.

We shall agree, to disagree. My swearing of an oath as presented by my superiors was indeed to the Constitution; “… so help me God.”, in my heart and soul was nothing more than an affirmation in a Higher Power, which I hold in the greatest esteem, and much more powerful than any Constitution that could ever be written on a piece of paper, although as you suggest, I am bound by my military oath to uphold to this day as its citizen, for enemies both foreign and domestic I might add. That is my personal belief, and as such, my affirmation, or recognition of my strength lies entirely in my Creator, not a clause.
As found here:
Heb 13:15 Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that confess his name.
Heb 13:16 And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
Heb 13:17 Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you.
Heb 13:18 Pray for us. We are sure that we have a clear conscience and desire to live honorably in every way.

As to reference of historian revisionists as noted in the Huffington Post article, I only offer up my own blood line, as a genealogist by hobby, going back to 1645, before this nation was even founded, and offer you the Last Will and Testament of my forefathers who lived his life before and after the Declaration of Independence, and the signing of the US Constitution, whose sons went on to become a long historical line of clergy, both Baptist and most recently Methodist. Moses himself was a next door neighbor to President Washington at the Mt Vernon estate:

Will of Moses Ball
In the name of God, Amen, fifteenth day of December, in the year of Our Lord God, One thousand seven hundred and eight-six, I Moses Ball, being in perfect memory, thanks be to Almighty God, and calling to remembrance the uncertainty of this transitory life and that it is appointed once for all men to die, do make, constitute and ordain this to be my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, revoking and disannulling by these presents all and every other Will or Wills heretofore by me made and declared either by word or writing and this only is to be taken for my last Will and no other.
And First I recommend my soul unto the hands of God in whom and through the merits of Jesus Christ I trust and believe assuredly to be saved and to have full remission of all my sins and that my soul with my body at the general day of resurrection shall rise again with joy.
Firstly, I recommend my body to the grave to be decently buried at the discretion of my executors hereafter named, and as the settle of my temporal estate and such goods, chattles, and debts which it hath pleased God to bestow upon me, I do order, give and dispose in manner and form following:
That is to say, First, I give and bequeath unto my well beloved son, John Ball, twenty-five acres of land, beginning on the south side of Four Mile Run at the White Oak of General Washington’s, thence with Washington’s line to Alexander’s line and the meanders of Long Branch Westwardly until the quantity of twenty-five acres is made then with a Southerly line from the Long Branch to said line of Alexander.
Secondly, I desire that the remaining part of my land may be in the possession of my dearly beloved wife, Ann Ball, during her natural life to be at her discretion during her widowhood but in case she marries, then the said land is to be disposed of at the discretion of my Executors, and the profits arising therefrom to be equally divided among my surviving children after my just debts is paid (my son John excepted).
Thirdly, I desire that my Executors as soon as possible pay to his Excellency, General Washington, the sum of £10 to be made out of the aforesaid cattle in case he (Mr. Carlin) should be obliged to pay General Washington, the above mentioned sum of £10.
Fourthly, I give and bequeath to my loved daughter, Sibela Ball, one bed and furniture as it stands at the decease of her mother agreeably to the conditions of the land.
Fifthly, and lastly I desire that my son, John Ball and Mr. Joseph Birch, to be the only and sole Executors of this my Last Will and Testament, and I do by these presents revoke and disannul all and every other Will or Wills, Legacy or legacies heretofore by me made or don, acknowledging this and no other to be my last Will and Testament; as witness I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written.

Moses Ball died 3 Sep 1792. At a court held in Fairfax County, Virginia on 17th September 1792, this Will was presented in Court and proved by the Oath of Elijah Wood. And at a Court held for the said county on 15th October 1792, it was further proved by the Oath of William Culberhouse and order to be recorded.

To me, the verse Mar 12:17 Then Jesus said to them, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.” And they were amazed at him.
has always meant more than just paying taxes. I will obey those in authority over me, but foremost my honor, and entire faith is in God during this temporary life.

May you find peace in your journey, in recognition that your actions, however noble, will impact on others and their personal views. My view being that this nation was built on the cornerstone of our faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, as a Christian community that managed to escape the shackles in England. Even in 1776 with the Declaration of Independence and the signing of our US Constitution in 1787, and that no government similar to the Church of England shall rule our nation in making political decisions. Rather we walk by faith, and do those things that are moral and pleasing unto our Lord. If by chance, members of Congress or members of our local communities see fit to make subtle changes that acknowledges my faith in our Creator, I will support them. For those that find this offensive, and feel deprived of their rights or freedoms, I would say we are a multi-cultured nation with numerous traditions, and each should be allowed to worship and or believe as they deem proper, but don’t deprive me of the one thing I and many other veterans hold dear, in the process. We were once a majority, as a nation of believers, today, sadly, I’m not so sure, it’s more like a nation of thieves, beggars, murderers and those that have no hope, with nothing to lose as prisons across our nation overflow, we have lost our discernment for morals and dignity and that sister, bothers me more than a piece of paper or any oath that simply deletes reference to my ultimate power. I will keep you and our nation in my prayers.

May God Bless,

Dear (name withheld),

I hope you are not questioning my faith in God because if you are, you have no idea of the depth of my faith because I do not think the way you do.

I will offer up my bloodline and it goes back before 1645. My grandmother was a full-blooded Seneca Indian with the Iroquois Nation.

This country was not “founded” but stolen by Europeans. It was already broken into territories by Indian tribes “from sea to shining sea.”

It disgusts me to hear the descendants of the early settlers refer to themselves as “Native Americans.”

So, if you were hoping to brag about your religious heritage and your ancestors that knew important people, you’re bragging to the wrong person
