Hello. Mr. Weinstein appears to be an educated and intelligent man.

I was recently reading about your organization’s doctrine and felt compelled to write.

First and foremost I will pray to the Father-Son-Holy Ghost for you and your organization to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

With all due respect, for some reason, you are being greatly deceived.

Your goals will not be realized. The Word of God will never be silenced.

The Bible is the Spirit Breathed Word of God, inerrant- The Total and Absolute Truth.

Jesus is the Way-Truth-Light. NO ONE COMES TO THE FATHER EXCEPT THRU HIM.

There is absolutely nothing your organization can do to stop GOD’S WILL or stop the spread of the Gospel. The enemy has tried to do this since his fall from grace

The enemy has already been defeated at the Cross.

Again, I am praying for y’all to see the light.

Either way, the effect of persecution of Christians will be to fire us up even more to engage the enemy even more zealously and bring more people to Christ.

All of us are immortal and we ourselves decide where to spend it.

GOD BLESS

Good Afternoon, (name withheld) —

Thank you for writing to MRFF to share your thoughts. Mike Weinstein has read your email and asked me to provide a response. I’m a volunteer who supports MRFF in a variety of ways — I am also a Christian, an USAF Academy graduate (’85) and an Air Force veteran.

First, I’d like to say ‘thanks’ for the prayers. The vast majority of MRFF clients and supporters are Christian, so many of us share your appreciation for the power of prayer. I will pray for you, as well.

Second, I want to address some of the things you said in your email, and to correct some serious misconceptions that you seem to hold:

— The goal of MRFF is not to “silence” the Word of God. Rather, the goal is to assist with ensuring that all military members, regardless of religious belief (including non-belief) is afforded the protection to which each is entitled by both the US Constitution and military regulations. That means that military leaders do not have unrestricted freedom when it comes to expressing religious beliefs — in other words, the time, place and manner of such expressions can be limited in ways that do not apply to civilians.

— The beliefs you share regarding the Bible and Jesus are clearly heartfelt, and for what it’s worth I’d wager that you and I are largely in agreement with regard to those things. But I’d ask you to realize that the US military is not a Christian organization. Every military member is entitled to hold whatever beliefs (including non-belief) that he desires, and no single doctrine, creed or confession of faith can be favored over any other belief or non-belief.

— The goal of MRFF is also not to “stop GOD’S WILL or stop the spread of the Gospel”….. except when efforts to do so, even well-intended efforts, run afoul of the religious neutrality that is required in the military. Our military is comprised of people with a wide range of beliefs (and non-belief). For the organization to function properly, neutrality is crucial. Not all Christians agree with that — there are some who believe it is their mission to make the US military the “right arm of Christ’s power” (something that someone told me not long ago). This belief is misguided and dangerous, and it is this sort of extremism that creates a need for an organization like MRFF.

— You are correct about Mr. Weinstein, he is an educated and intelligent man. He is also a zealous advocate for Constitutional protections of all military members and for the proper relationship between State and Church. He is not anti-Christian, nor a deceiver, nor a persecutor of Christians. Rather, in the time that I’ve known him, I have found him to be a man of tremendous honor and integrity.

Hope this perspective is helpful to you. If you’d like to discuss anything further, feel free to reply directly to my email, and thanks again for writing to MRFF.

Peace,

Mike Challman
