There’s ones like me, 45 years old and an atheist all my life (but taught to respect people who are religious and their rights and beliefs) and who acknowledges that yes, indeed this country has a Judeo-Christian background.  And then there’s the deliberate provocoteurs, like you asshole, who spend their time shitting all over other people’s beliefs and denying the true heritage of this nation.

You know, the asshole who said this:

“But whoever, in any way, shape or form, allowed that poster to be designed, prepared and displayed, those individuals should be aggressively investigated and very visibly punished.”

Yeah that will show them you fucking prick.

(name withheld),

Two things.  First, beliefs don’t need to be respected, people do.  The belief that vaccines are harmful is dangerous and undeserving of respect.  The belief that faith healing is a great alternative to real medicine kills children, I don’t respect it.  The belief that our military belongs to Christians is in that same category.  Dangerous, not respectable.

And that leads us right into my next point.  Our country doesn’t have a “Judeo-Christian Heritage”.  It has a pluralistic heritage.  Jews and Christians where part of it, right along side atheists, Wiccans, Native American Spiritualists, Satanists, Deists, Hindus, Buddhists, and on and on and on.  Pretending that Christians and Jews are the co-chairs of the office of all privileges in this country is absurd.  Only made more absurd by the reality that their beliefs are incompatible and Christian forces have made so many persistent efforts to eliminate the Jewish population’s influence by acts of violence and segregation.

There’s a difference between some atheists.  There are those like you that drink Kool-Aid like it was their job, and then there are those that read, study, think, interact with the world around them, and formulate reasonably informed positions from those combined experiences.

Cheers,

Typical smug lib prick.  Anti-Semitic rage?  My entire extended family has been bar or bat mitzvah’d, but for one reason or another my side of the family decided not to be religious.  But we also decided to respect the fact that this was a Christian nation, at least until assholes line you and Mikey decided to shove your BS down all of our throats.

I dislike libs for a million reasons but thinking you are smarter and ironically more tolerant would be two at the top of the list.

Have a wonderful day…

It’s not a Christian nation. Again – the library would be very helpful.

Dear (name withheld),

I would say I doubt the veracity of your statement when you say you’ve been “an atheist all my life” because your response was anything less than intellectual and shows that you have not even a modicum of understanding when it comes to civil liberties and the United States Constitution, but I’ve also met some pretty stupid atheists.

That being said, as an atheist myself, I doubt the veracity of your statement. Most atheists do take a firm stance on the separation of church and state. This is an obvious violation of the separation of church and state. It’s about as simple as that.

And these recruiters should have known better. I mean, it is only their entire professional career to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States. You would think that, of any person in the United States, people whose sole purpose it is to defend this founding document would know not to violate said document. Otherwise, why would they be wearing the uniform?

But I digress…

Your history sucks. Many citizens of this country have a Judeo-Christian background, surely. But this isn’t about the citizenry, now is it dear atheist? Nay! ’Tis about the country’s government – and that government of the people, by the people, and for the people is an entirely secular one. That means it doesn’t take a stance on the “god” issue one way or the other.

The “true heritage of this nation” comes from diversity and tolerance. The diversity and tolerance from the Military Religious Freedom Foundation is quite apparent if you actually used your brain that you claim to have, utilizing skeptical inquiry, and researched precisely what it is we do and who it is we represent. Over 95% of our over 40,000 clients are either Protestant or Roman Catholics who have had their rights trampled upon. So no, dear atheist, it is not an atheist organization.

This particular case only had one client: The United States Constitution. The Constitution needed someone to defend it. We stepped up. If you are so adamant about defending the Constitution then I would invite you to step up to the plate (after some heavy reading) and do the same. We secularists and defenders of the Constitution could always use another helping hand. We’re stretched thin as it is.

Last point of fact, Mikey isn’t even an atheist. He’s Jewish, but I’m sure that’s just going to make your blood boil with anti-semitic rage.

So, dear atheist, stop running on emotional talking points, pull your head out from the depths of your rectal cavity, and get to a public library. There are tons of books on US history and the Constitution available for free. You don’t need a lot of money to get an education. That service is provided by our tax dollars.

Very Respectfully,
