Mikey Weinstein is a disgrace to the US Air Force and the United States of America. He and his supporters need to be given one way tickets to Syria. My family has been serving the US military since 1775 and are proud to say that we serve both God and Nation.

Dear (name withheld),

As someone who would be happy serving your God and country, shouldn’t you be more sympathetic to the conditions in Syria where there is no separation between religion and government?  Also, what do you find disgraceful about the first amendment to the constitution which Mikey and his supporters (myself included) defend with vigor?

Dear (name withheld),

You do not get to determine who is an American and who isn’t nor do you have the right to strip us of our citizenship. That would make you a tyrant.

All of the emails we receive and their responses are posted to our website and sent out to almost all of our bases around the world to be distributed to our soldiers, volunteers and supporters in those areas.

I’m sure the military personnel that are involved with the Military Religious Freedom Foundation will be pleased to read your email.

The Board of MRFF is made-up of:

Major William E. Barker (Ret)

Former Ambassador Joseph Wilson

Mikey Weinstein

The Advisory Board:

Lawrence Wilkerson – Secretary of State Colin Powell’s Chief of Staff (2002-2005)

PHD, Lt Col (Ret) Edie Disler

Brigadier General (Ret) Robert S, Dotson

Robert T. Herres – Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the first to hold that position. (December 1, 1932 – July 24, 2008) and 36 years in the Air Force

Air Force Brigadier General (Ret) A.A. “Tony” Verrengia

John Whiteside – Whiteside is one of only a few military aviators to possess both Senior Command Air Force wings and aircraft carrier qualified Naval Aviator wings, in addition to having been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for heroism in combat during Operation Desert Storm.

Eagle Man, Ed McGaa – He is an enrolled Oglala Sioux tribal member, OST 15287. After serving in Korea, he earned an undergraduate degree from St. Johns University, MN. He then later rejoined the Marine Corps to become a fighter pilot.

Plus, many active duty and retired personnel are volunteers and supporters.

When you joined the military you swore an oath to defend the Constitution. We are doing the same thing.

The only disgraceful person here is you who believe every story about the MRFF based on lies and omissions.

We are not an atheist organization nor are we anti-Christian. Mikey is Jewish (and prays 3 times a day to the same Father we do) and 75% of the Board, Advisory Board, volunteers and supporters of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) are Christians. In fact, 96% of our 42,000+ soldier clients are Christians. So, we fight for the rights of Christians more than any other religion.

But, you don’t know this because you failed to do a little research on our website and see the truth about us.

The First Amendment to the Constitution is freedom of speech and apparently yours – and those who think like you – is the only one allowed and all others must be deported.

You have failed to uphold the oath you swore to and it is you who are a disgrace to the uniform you wore.

Hi (name withheld),

Some in your family must be very old.

Mr. Weinstein is a hero to those who treasure our constitution and believe the freedom of religion is worth protecting, and I’m betting they outnumber your side by a lot.

Many of our supporters are also proud to serve both God and nation, but unlike you they recognize the need to be respectful of those who believe in a different way and thus don’t find it necessary to wear their own beliefs on their sleeves. You might give that some thought.

Mike Farrell

(MRFF Board of Advisors)

Hi (name withheld) –
I appreciate that you took the time to send a short note to the MRFF, but I disagree strongly with your sentiments.
I’m a lifelong, committed, and active Christian; a USAF Academy graduate; and and Air Force veteran… in addition to being a staunch supporter of the MRFF and its efforts to defend the religious freedom rights of all US service members.
Personally, I think it’s great that you and your forebears have proudly served in the US military, and it’s wonderful that you have dedicated your service to both God and Nation.  That is your right, and we can all be grateful for your service.  At the same time, though, there have been many equally honorable members of the US military who don’t share our belief in God.
Those brave, non-believing American patriots should be recognized with the same amount of gratitude for their own service… and they should be able to live and work in an environment that does not devalue their participation because of a difference of personal belief.  In much the same way, believers who serve should not be marginalized by other believers because they don’t hold the “right” beliefs.
In order to accommodate all manner of religious perspective, our military must maintain a neutral stance on these matters.  Despite the insistence of some on the conservative side of the spectrum, we are not a ‘Christian nation’ and our military is not a Christian fighting force.  We are blessed to have a dynamic, pluralistic society comprised of a multitude of beliefs and non-beliefs… and our military reflects this diversity.
To not protect the rights of ALL Americans, or to suggest that Christians are entitled to a higher degree of recognition, is to disavow the principles on which our nation was founded, and which are memorialized in the US Constitution.
Peace,
Mike Challman
