MRFF was contacted by several airmen at a U.S. Air Force installation after they were informed by their unit commander that “spiritual fitness” was very important to him and his commander and that he “expected to see us at Sunday chapel as often as possible”. These MRFF clients understood this as an actual order rather than a simple suggestion. MRFF President/Founder Mikey Weinstein immediately contacted the commander of the officer who issued this ‘chapel attendance order’ regarding the specific concerns of MRFF’s clients. Soon after this contact, a senior NCO was directed to meet directly with the clients’ unit and stated that their unit commander “made a mistake about his Sunday chapel remarks and that no one has to go.” This commander went on to say that although “spiritual fitness’ is still a big deal in the Air Force, “we can show that to our chain of command in other ways than going to Sunday chapel services.”
