If Monk actually lied then that is wrong, and it was wrong that her commanding officer was wrong not to go to her son’s first day of school, however, she had every right to tell the Lt Col that was married to a woman. Besides, though she may be married by a state, she is and will never married in the eyes of God, He does not recognize any gay marriage, only that between a man and a woman!
Also, the Lt. Col said that we are Christians, we pray before a meal etc, well praying before a meal does not make one a Christian, just as eating at McDonalds makes you a hamburger. If every one who prayed before a meal then boy, there a tons more “Christians” running around in this world, but unfortunately, Jesus would say many of them “depart from Me for I never knew you!”
