Old Testament God

For the Old Testament God to return and strike down heathens like you; don’t worry no one is forcing me to pray; are you sure you weren’t the third person in San Bernadino a few days ago

Dear (name withheld)
Someone using your name just sent an obscene message to our organization. Assuming a prayerful person like yourself couldn’t have been that unChristian and crude I urge you to protect yourself from people attempting to besmirch your good name.

In reading your current message, however, it appears that you are quite irate and may have temporarily lost control of your good, prayerful, Christian understanding. If that is the case one may also assume you’re embarrassed at having been so thoughtlessly judgmental and condemning and are now, having had the time to think on your rash action and perhaps pray on it, considering just how to apologize and make amends.

Because ours is an organization made up of people of many different faith traditions and ethical and philosophical beliefs and understandings, we just want you to know we know how hard it is to be a good, thoughtful person no matter what ones belief system. So you need not apologize. We know your failure gives you pain and makes you feel stupid and worthless and that is more than enough for one simple person to have to deal with.

So you need not bother apologizing. Have a nice day.

Dear (name withheld),

If the old testament god were to show up I’m sure he’d start by striking down those who used his name to spread hate and fear before he took the time to go after anyone with a message of mutual respect.  Give him another 2,000 years though.  He’s a bit lousy when it comes to sticking to his schedule.

Cheers,

    Dear Blake,

Jesus never gave a schedule when He would return, but He did say that “these would be the signs of my coming.” So, He never gave a time nor a date, but we do know from the bible where He will return to. He said that when He does return He will set his foot on the Mount of Olives across the valley from Jerusalem, where He then will walk through the Eastern Gate which the Muslims have shut up many years ago, and where He will set up His earthly throne from which He will judge all the nations for 1,000 years!
