From the Yellow Star to the “Coincidence Detector”: Jews Once Again Targets of Search and Destroy Tactics

Dear Mikey,

I am a strong Christian Zionist and Evangelical, and support the existence and protection of the nation of Israel and the Jewish people. I also strongly abhor and speak against anti-Semitism. I found one comment you made in this article to be totally false.

“Additionally, it is no secret that the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF), of which I am Founder and President, is routinely a target of hate coming from anti-Semites, most of whom are Christian fundamentalist evangelicals.”  You are so full of bullshit Mikey, excuse my Hebrew, evangelicals are the strongest supports of Israel and Jews, and are not anti-Semitic. Even Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel has said that “evangelical Christians are the best friends Israel has today.” I kindly ask that you detract that statement for that is nothing but pure bunk. The most anti-Semitic Christians can be found in the mainline denominations like the Presbyterian Church USA, the United Methodist Church, the United Church of Christ and one of the British Anglican churches.

Happy Shavuot,

You want to know what I think, (name withheld)?  I think that the vast majority of Christian Zionists, probably including you, “support” Israel for a disingenuous reason.

It’s due to the belief that a biblical prophecy will be fulfilled, particularly with respect to the Second Coming. Some Christian Zionists, again perhaps you, even believe that the Second Coming can be hastened by being especially enthusiastic in this support.
I believe that rationale is disingenuous and dishonest because at its core in self-centeredness and selfishness. These Christian Zionists, maybe including you, support Israel for what they believe it will do for them, and not out of some altruistic motivation on behalf of the Jewish people.
So how about you answer a question for me this time, “Reverend” — Is your support of Israel based upon a desire to see biblical prophecy fulfilled and to hasten the Second Coming?
Peace, MC

The letter writer says: “The most anti-Semitic Christians can be found in the mainline denominations like the Presbyterian Church USA, the United Methodist Church, the United Church of Christ and one of the British Anglican churches.”

Ya know – this sounds a lot like someone I’ve debated before. Hmmmm…. no provable data and wild accusations against folks who advocate inclusion – something Evangelicals do not do. Who does it remind me of?

The letter writer did not do their homework as they missed many previous letters from self professed Evangelicals who were very anti semitic in how they expressed themselves. Perhaps the letter writer would like to retract their statements, since they don’t have any evidence? LOL – I know they won’t. Admitting ignorance is also something the letter writer does not do.

To slightly paraphrase what Mike Weinstein said the one time I heard him in person, fundamentalist evangelical Christians love Jews the same way most Americans start loving turkeys around the 3rd week in November.

The latter writer assumes that all Evangelicals are pro-Zionists. I’d like to point out a few who are definitely NOT: Billy, Franklin, and Ann Graham Lotz (and the whole clan), John Hagee, Ken Ham…shall I continue?
And I agree with MC “I think that the vast majority of Christian Zionists, probably including you, “support” Israel for a disingenuous reason.

Tom – I love your comment. You, as always, hit the nail on the head.

Angela – the letter writer made sloppy assumptions. It amuses me that is heathens who follow ‘for the good of all and may it harm none’ while the Zionists say we are filled with demons. It irritates me they claim the moral high ground even as their boots are filthy from the filth they advocate.

To both – hope all is well with you. Life is too short not to express appreciation for people when you see them. 🙂
