MRFF Advisory Board Member, John Compere Publishes Latest Article: “The Press Is Not The Enemy Of The People”

“THE PRESS IS NOT THE ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE”

The US Senate unanimously passed a resolution on August 16 affirming “the press is not the enemy of the people” and condemning “attacks on the institution of the free press” – a direct refutation of the pernicious president’s contemptible claim the press is “the enemy of the people” .

The US President’s sworn oath includes “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution”. The Constitution prohibits lawfully “abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press”.

“Whoever would overthrow the Liberty of a Nation, must begin by subduing the Freeness of Speech.” (Benjamin Franklin, 1722).

“Our liberty depends on the freedom of the press, and that cannot be limited without being lost.” (Thomas Jefferson, 1786).

“The freedom of the Press is one of the greatest bulwarks of liberty, and can never be restrained but by despotic governments.” (James Madison, 1789).

“In the First Amendment, the Founding Fathers gave the free press the protection it must have to fulfill its essential role in our democracy. The press was to serve the governed, not the governors.” (US Supreme Court, New York Times v. United States, 403 US 713, 1971).

“Freedom of the Press is one of our most important freedoms and also one of our oldest.” (Ronald Reagan, 1985).

“If you want to preserve democracy as we know it, you have to have a free – and many times adversarial – press. And without it, I am afraid that we would lose so much of our individual liberties over time – that’s how dictators get started. The first thing dictators do is shut down the press.” (John McCain, 2017 – who the draft dodging president disparagingly denied was an American military hero).

  1. We are Q

With all due respect John, the press is the enemy of the people when it blocks and bans the right of free speech by conservatives on social media platforms whether it be Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.

Also, the President was right, McCain was no war hero. He did not break his arms by way of torture, they were broken when he failed to do the proper procedure when being ejected from his jet. Also, McCain, crashed three jets since flight school and barely passed flight school. He was shot down in Vietnam not by a SAM missile but by anti-aircraft fire because he went below the minimum altitude for flying over Vietnam.

Also, McCain did not have brain cancer that was just a cover, he was actually executed for treason by a military tribunal by his choice to save face with the Navy and his family. We have all the facts and documents in hand!

    “We are Q”,

You say ” the press is the enemy of the people when it blocks and bans the right of free speech by conservatives on social media platforms whether it be Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.”

So the press influences private companies? Really? Please reveal their nefarious ways!

Your deplorable attack on an honorable man is noted and if you really had facts they’d be exposed, released, leaked, or presented in an orderly fashion. Nope, you’ve got nothing because if you did we’d all know about it.

Adolescent troll acts like an adolescent. No surprises here.
