Masterclass in ‘The Art of the Spin’!! All the classic tropes: MRFF ‘a radical outside [of what? I’ll tell you what: The ‘official’ State Religion] atheist group’, ‘known for unsuccessful lawsuits & questionable practices’; ‘attack on freedom of religion’; ‘attack on free speech rights’; ‘attack on veterans’; ‘attack on faith’; ‘attack on 95 year-old POW veteran’; ‘attack on veterans’ rights’, etc., etc., ad nauseum.
The wonderful thing about these sound bites is that each one takes a paragraph to debunk and they know damn well that 95+% of people won’t spend the time to read them even if they’d publish ’em where they could be found in time to make them relevant.
And, while Faux[NOT]News has made its reputation on producing reactionary propaganda, let’s not forget that (as far as I’m aware) none of the faux ‘liberal’ media (MSDNC, CNN, etc.) are jumping on the ‘let’s defend the constitutional separation of church & state’ bandwagon since they’re unwilling to sacrifice principles over profit. To wit: Their uniform condemnation of publisher Julian Assange’s persecution and silence about whistleblower Chelsea Manning’s torture by detention.
Rael – I agree. I’m writing an article on this. I’m one of the VA patients who complained. This won’t stand.
Freedom of Relgion, also includes Freedom FROM Religion.
I want to see the Satanic Bible, The Quran, and every other religious book added to that table. They need a BIG table now!
Either the bible needs to go or every religion needs to be represented. This continual depiction of the USA as a Christian nation is inaccurate and a slap in the face of every veteran, Christian or otherwise, who fought or died for our right to choose how we worship or even if we worship. If we do not preserve our liberties they will dissipate unnoticed and THAT is the harm in keeping silent.
I fhink that someone has already tried to put sacred books of other religions on the table too. If so, THOSE BOOKS were promptly removed. And by the way, which version of the Bible was displayed? The Catholic version or the Protestant one?? So yes, Christians of various denominations would have legal standing to sue, IMHO.
