I met Joe after Desert Storm. I was an Army Colonel in the war commanding an artillery unit. I got to know Joe when we were on the Gore Campaign in 2000. We later played golf on occasion. He was a delightful man, and a true patriot who represented our country with honor and dignity in places that were usually distant and dangerous. I wish his family all the best.

Oh so very sad to see this. Our world is sorely lacking in folks with Joe’s integrity and character. He was one of the good guys!
My heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends.

Amb. Wilson was a bright, kind, thoughtful and forward-looking man who not only loved America but understood that the security and well-being of his country depended on the goodwill of our international neighbors. Wilson and those who share his enlightened view of world affairs, have never been more essential to our national interests during this hour of division and peril. He will be sorely missed.
