Permission to use the following: For whatever reason, the United States Air Force Academy produces a relatively small crop of zealots every year, as if their jobs in the Air Force weren’t enough to keep them busy. The problem with zealots is that they too often lack and eschew boundaries. The problem with Christian zealots is that they want to impose their brand of religion on everyone else. For this reason, the MRFF exists to combat these overreaching, arrogant, self-righteous, intrusively aggressive bigots. For it is that if you don’t believe the way they do, then you are worse in their eyes than having no value whatsoever as a human being.
Personally I find such zealots despicable and even dangerous. There are instances throughout history wherein their victims were offered up as heretics and miscreants. I know this to be the case because of what, over the centuries, my people, by the thousands and thousands, have suffered at their hands. Thank God, we live under the Constitution of the United States and the Bill of Rights with its First Amendment protections. Thank God, we have laws against coercive proselytizers in the military as stated in the UCMJ.
Thank God, we enjoy those who would risk life and limb to stand up for those who would be excluded, maligned and oppressed viciously by these fanatics. I am sickened by what was written in this email.
I am sickened and very, very tired by its expressed sentiments. I am bone weary of people who would condemn me to their Hell, as if what they are doing doesn’t create enough Hell on earth for those who, like myself, don’t tow their credal line.
My message to these people is: “go pedal your bigotry somewhere else. Keep within your own ranks and leave the rest of us alone.” We’ll all be the better for it in this land of the free and the home of the brave who stand up to your every provocation.
