It obviously has not occurred to you that some families of deceased military veterans do not want a religious organization to which they do not belong promoting its religion version & marketing its religious organization by presumptuously placing & publicizing its religious symbols on the graves of their deceased loved ones without permission. Those families consider it uninvited & unwanted intrusions on the personal burial sites of their deceased.
The Military Religious Freedom Foundation, when requested, represents, supports & respects the right of those families to object & prevent what they believe to be be thoughtless trespasses on their family members’ graves. And, we will continue to do so. See militaryreligiousfreedom.org.

Dear (name withheld):
I have been asked by the Military Religious Freedom Foundation to respond to your recent email about wreaths on soldiers’ graves. Despite your expletive-filled diatribe, I’ll try to be reasonable.
The MRFF does not object to placing Christian wreaths on the graves of Christian servicemembers, if that’s what their survivors desire. What MRFF objects to is the private organization that is going about willy-nilly and placing Christian wreaths on the graves of everyone buried in a U.S. Government cemetery, regardless of their religious beliefs or lack of religious beliefs. You may not know it, but there are seventy-four religious symbols approved for placement on a tombstone in a VA cemetery. Many of these represent non-Christian beliefs. It would be very easy for this private wreath-placing entity to avoid the graves of non-Christians if they wished to do so, but such discrimination is not apparently being practiced by the wreath-layers.
As for Mr. Weinstein’s political persuasion, I can assure you that he is not a communist. I cannot vouch for the existence or non-existence of a soul. The MRFF respects those who have worn our country’s uniform and are buried in a VA cemetery. Just as our Constitution prevents our government from favoring one religion over another, so MRFF respects the right of every veteran to have their religious beliefs, or lack of religious beliefs, respected in their final resting place. Is that too much to ask?

Your still a liberal commie fucker trying to get rid of Christ and Christmas. The reason this country is going to hell in a handbasket. Of all the problems right now you attack a christmas decoration that remembers soldiers with a wreath that celebrates the holidays and wasnt even really associated as a symbol of christianity until you whiners made a big deal out of it. Liberals ruin everything they touch.

Dear (name withheld),
It is really hard to respond to an email like yours, it is simply not worth trying to explain the bigger Constitutional and legal issues, or the motivations of the WWA and the for profit company that they are the nonprofit arm.
You don’t know Mr. Weinstein from Adam and you tell him to “Go to hell you communist joyless soulless fuck.” You are obviously not interested in the truth and simply want to send an email “shotgun blast” full of untruths to attempt to silence or threaten him because he responds to people who do not get help from the military, VA, or state military cemeteries in dealing with this. But obviously you don’t care about them. But be assured that Mr. Weinstein is an absolutely honorable man who served our country and is neither a Communist, joyless or soulless.
He and MRFF have helped or represented me over 75,000 military members, veterans, retirees, and their families in dealing with threats to their religious or civil rights, frequently by other military personnel. 95% of those he has represented are Christians.
Somehow ai believe that only someone consumed by hate could write the email you sent to Mr. Weinstein. I will not make any comments on your character or disclose anything I found out about you that is available in public records. I have the decency not to do that.
If you have it in you, have a Merry Christmas.
Sincerely, but without any respect, I am yours,

They are NOT religious wreaths or Christmas wreaths. They are remembrance wreaths for veterans. Wreaths Across America instructs all cemetery groups NOT to place wreaths on Jewish graves with a couple of exceptions. (1) Many Jewish families ask for these wreaths on their family member’s grave, and (2) some rabbis ask for them to be placed. Wreaths Across America is a nonreligious nonprofit. Trees are not cut down to make the wreaths. The tips of the tree branches are harvested on a two-year schedule to create wreaths. Keep in mind that those placing wreaths may not know that the person buried there was Jewish. If there’s no Star of David on the headstone and no one tells them, how are they supposed to know? Many wreaths are placed by children – specifically by Scouts. Allow for errors by both children and adults. All doing the best they can. No one involved with Wreaths Across America is defacing graves. PLEASE do your research!
He is correct though. You are a Marxist organization and you know it.
Here’s the thing…..THE ENTIRE NATION IS ON TO YOU!!!!
Keep you fucking hands off ANY headstones that aren’t your own traitorous family members.
It is truly sad how these so called non profit money making scheme companies love to divide our great country and its people !. Your company is a hate group and a scare on our society. You preach freedom of religion yet you divide those who fought for their country and made our country the greatest in the world by religion. You should be ashamed to even exist. When these men and women served our country, their faiths did not stand in the way of having each others backs. Their faiths did not keep them from being friends, their faith did not keep them from being brothers and sisters, their faith did not keep them from dying in each others arms, or saving each others lives in battle. Yet here you are dividing them up for your own profit! Faith, color, or gender does not matter to people in times of war, they are humans Not wanting to die and make it back to their loved ones. That is why it is called a band. Even when a faith or color was a issue during war times it was over come by brotherhood and war. Faith is what you carry in your heart, what you turn to in times of need, and live by in your life. It is not something to be turned on one another for profit. People know who to talk to if they have issues or need information they have since the beginning of time. Why attack, just ask and you shall receive. If you do not understand anything at all of what I’m saying then it is you who needs faith not the people honoring The people who gave the most to support our country and way of life. Religious freedom is just one thing they fought for, another is to stop segregation of people and this is what you are doing. In closing I would like to say this, If you think this is doing good for our country, You are wrong ! regardless of religion, You know what the wreaths stand for, they are nothing but a remembrance item for all of those who served and died. Maybe if you explained to people what they are instead of taking money from them it would be better for all. God Bless, Have a Merry Christmas there is enough EVEL in this world already, why be apart of it. something to think about…
Maybe try using your energy and funding to help and save homeless and suicidal veterans rather than your fake outrage over pine branches. Stay classy Weinstein.
Please, let’s not give this fringe group any more attention. They are obviously a publicity hungry group of flakes. I’d love to see the “thousands of complaints” they received.
The above comments reflect a lack of experience as a religious minority and or a lack of knowledge about what communism and Marxism are, and a lack of knowledge about what the MRFF does. Religious minorities are tired of people in the majority pushing their religious beliefs and customs down our throats. It is very disrespectful. All veterans deserve the same level of respect – including respect for their religious beliefs. Smearing the MRFF and Mikey Weinstein as “communist” or “Marxist” is not an argument against showing that respect to all veterans. It is just a schoolyard taunt from people who have no real argument to make.
How hard is it for “volunteers” to only place these wreaths on graves displaying a cross.
No cross, no wreath.
Place a flower instead on those graves.
Done
Im so sorry their is deep hatred growing in souls throughout our country . What truly happend to us ? what truly is wrong ? God bless EVERYONE of us and my Prayer is that any and all despite GENEOLOGY or religion , realize that we need each other and we truly have to stop and protect what foundations are left before we kill each other . Im so tired of this debocal of bullcrap on a daily basis , this destruction and anger and loathing of fellow countryman and woman . MY GOD please stop this . Please I think the simple fact is PEOPLE STILL CARE and see each other as one , if you want go and lay minoras at the graves or colored cloth or whatever your worried about . I think you sound like someone that would put a bullet in my head if i said I AM AN AMERICAN , but then I forgive for you that because I can see you are so misguided . Its like the typical liar syndrome , IF YOU SAY IT ENOUGH IT LOOKS TO BE TRUE . We are all on the same side ? We are all the same blood ? WHAT HAPPEND TO US ? I WILL PROTECT MY NEIGHBOR I WILL PROTECT MY COUNTRY AND I WILL NEVER STOP BELIEVING IN A TRUE REDEEMER ! But something clicked wrong here and I am so dissapointed and embarrassed for all the fallen and serving soldiers that any of you act this way and even think this way . Leave people alone , dead and living and let them have a heart even if it comes in the form of a wreath . WOW Just WOW God Bless America and the cross she has to bare being the mother of (some)fools .

I dont think they said Hey you shouldnt fight by my side or for America because when your buried in Arlington cemetary they will lay a wreath at your grave . Also that ground was owned by Indians what do they think about you burying your dead there ? This can go on and on and on . Let God or whatever you like do the JUDGING . I apologize for the bullet comment , I could not delete so I came back to apologize . i meant no ill will and my ignorance came out . I apologize . Thank you for giving all of us an the advantage to comment . I hope we can someday truly come back together to fight for each other not against . When I am layed to rest I will leave no judgement as to what is placed on my grave as long as it is placed with respect and love for who I was .
Momma, the only way We The People will come together is if Christian Nationalists give up on their goal of turning the USA into a theocracy.
If such a miracle occurs, next, as Mental Health 101 teaches, in order to move forward We must acknowledge all wrong doings in our past and do what We can to make reparations.
This means acknowledgment of White Society telling Black Society to build their equal but separate ecosystem elsewhere, getting butthurt because the Black community thrives, destroying that same community for ‘reasons’, and repeating that crappy move until we are here/now. It also means acknowledging the fact that the USA has never honored one treaty made with the First Nations. It means shedding light on the actions of businesses and our government in other countries. It means accountability and transparency.
For the known atrocities committed by We The People there will never be justice or reparation to make the events of the past go away. But if We don’t make the effort to do better we will be condemned to repeat our mistakes into the future. Our Grand Experiment will have failed.
So, Momma, do you have it in you to honor the differences in your neighbors? Or, are you like every other Christianist who comments here who believes “if everyone would believe as I do everything will be ok”?
Leave the dead alone. Decorate as your custom if they are your dead. Otherwise, good intentions or not, you are desecrating a sacred space.
THE BATTLE OF ATHENS TN, AUGUST 1 & 2 1946, AN AMERICAN STORY. A stolen election in 1946 America caused 2-300 local residents & many were veterans of WW 2 to take up arms & march to & surround a police station & demanded justice. Instead it turns into a 6 hour gun battle with 2-3 dozen cops, shooting through the windows & then the use of dynamite to blow open the steel armored doors of the police station brought justice in 1946 America. A 1992 Hallmark movie on this incident is on you tube, titled An American Story. Also 3 books have been written on this incident since the eighties. One time in American history that the Second Amendment was used & it brought justice in Athens/McMinn county Tennessee.
Why in the world would anyone think the above post about the “Battle of Athens” appropriate to this website or subject? It has NOTHING whatsoever to do with the subject at hand. If the purpose was to intimidate, it has failed. I know lots of liberals that have guns – they just believe in responsible gun ownership & background checks. And none of them feel the need to parade around with weapons in full view in order to feel important.
Back to the subject:
To the people responding that volunteers, often children, were placing the wreaths on graves, and should be given latitude – NO. NO. NO.
Penina S. offered the easiest solution:
“How hard is it for volunteers to only place these wreaths on graves displaying a cross. No cross, no wreath.”
Seriously, the volunteer wouldn’t even have to be able to read, just find a cross displayed and leave a wreath on THAT GRAVE ONLY. Repeat. If children can’t manage it alone, they must have someone older with them. It’s a simple fix.
If a company sells wreaths as Christmas wreaths, then distributes identical items to be placed on servicemens’ graves, the wreaths on graves are also Christmas wreaths. They do not transform magically when convenient.
Charity Navigator rates Wreaths Across America as 65/100, a failing grade, due to financial accountability scores. That doesn’t make it a bad nonprofit; it just means that more documentation is needed.
Visit https://www.charitynavigator.org/ein/208362270 to see what this nonprofit has/has not submitted.
Wreaths Across America’s initial stated purpose doesn’t make allowances for only bestowing Christmas wreaths on Christian graves; I believe that may cause problems for them in the future. Those who have given their lives in service must have their sacrifice AND beliefs respected.
Let’s put this issue in a slightly different context:
The leaving of Christmas wreaths on non-Christians’ graves is not altogether different from a man putting his hand up a woman’s skirt without bothering to consider or ask whether the woman wants that hand between her legs.
A great many men engage in precisely this kind of activity but, irrespective of their numbers, nothing can ever make it right or, in most places, legal.
To further complicate the issue, such men often are married to women other than those under whose skirts they’re groping, and are fathers of daughters; in each case they would object and even become violent were they to find that a third party was engaging in that same activity with their wives or daughters.
As such, there’s more than a faint whiff of hypocrisy in all this, akin to how the pro-wreathers would react were unasked-for Jewish symbols being left on the graves of their Christian war dead.
“The leaving of Christmas wreaths on non-Christians’ graves is not altogether different from a man putting his hand up a woman’s skirt without bothering to consider or ask whether the woman wants that hand between her legs.”
Don’t be sick.
Why is the United States government allowing ANY wreaths to be placed on ANY graves in any federal military cemetery? All for the profit of one particular company and one particular family, the Worcester Wreath Company? – who also just so happen to run the non profit Wreaths Across America. Convenient isn’t it? Pretty lucrative scam going. The people running the non profit (the Worcesters) get thousands of volunteers across the country to do the work of laying wreaths on graves – for free, while they take in millions for sales of wreaths to Wreaths Across America – they own one and run the other! And “We the People,” donate to Wreaths Across America to pay the Worcesters for the wreaths they make and sell to the non profit.
If ANY wreaths are placed on military graves, it should be from an approved pool of vendors, at no cost to the Government, with rules concerning placement and cleanup, etc.
It wouldn’t surprise me to find out the US taxpayer was paying for the cleanup from this Christian profit making venture!
