I am an American Vet from the Vietnam era. I am also a 76 year old atheist.

Your actions are more offensive to me than the thought of a wreath being placed on my remains. You are a silly and divisive element in a foolish attempt at relevance. Live your life  and allow good people to honor our dead in their own way. I know that when they place a wreath on my grave, I will not object, either from above or below.

Leave my lack of religion out of your hate filled actions.

Good on you for being a vet. Good on you for not caring if someone decorates your grave with something that is foreign to your beliefs. But not everyone feels that way. And that doesn’t make them haters, nor does it make their actions ‘hate-filled.’
You’re welcome to take offense at anything you choose, no matter how small-minded you are in doing so and expressing yourself about it. but allow yourself the dignity of shutting up when you don’t know what you’re talking about.
There is an issue here that your quick-to-offend touchiness manages to miss. That is not to your credit. And neither  your judgment nor your comments are appreciated.

How about your picayune  offense?  Your God! a wreath? It is not a cross or a star of David.  I was raised a Christian and never was taught or thought of a wreath as a religious symbol. Often government offices have removed more religious symbols from holiday displays and still have wreaths. Do you wear a wedding band?. Some consider that a religious symbol but it is also a cultural tradition as well. Are you offended by Christmas trees in public view? I have a fall wreath on my front door because it is pretty. Wow you guys are simply sad.  Glad my atheism does not swing your way. You really marshall your forces when someone chooses to disagree, Generals, Chaplins  and point out your perfect example of useless division. Try and find something to do that helps vets who are alive and suffering. That could be a good use of your time and energy. Guess that would not make the news though would it?

When in Basic at Fort Benning, I had KP almost every Sunday because I chose not to attend services. I didn’t raise a stink because of that. I actually respected the rights of others to do as they believed and I did as I believed, but still the troops had to be fed. The imposition on me was small, just as the imposition on those who object to a wreath on a grave is small. Organize the families to go out the day after and remove the wreaths from the loved ones of the offended. I would wager that you would get less than 1% of the wreaths removed and there would be no debate. At least it would give the families a chance to visit the graves, make a statement and reflect on the freedoms those relatives fought for.

This is the definition and understanding of a wreath from the American Heritage Dictionary that I accept. I think you are just angry because it is being done by people during this season.

Go away unless you wish to be flooded with folks like me pointing out your sad complaints and publicizing your Grinch hood.  Quoting the daily Kos. is like quoting the Daily Worker. You guys have no concept of freedom and community spirit. I have read your stuff and know who you and “Padre Steve” actually are. Sad Grinches. Fortunately, the American population is learning what the silly left is all about and how danger is hidden in your absurdity.  The more I think about you the more I share your actions with others. I may be an atheist, but I have lots of Christian friends and lots of American Friends. Heavy reading for me is Quantum Mechanics. Liberal crap does not qualify.

You can’t let this go can you?

My goodness this never was about the wreathes, it is about your right wing politics and lack of tolerance to anyone to the left of you.
It is amazing, none of us stew on this or dwell on it. We defend people’s rights, that’s what American patriots do. I am not mad at anyone or being a grinch. I just want people’s rights to be respected, especially those of people who do not share my Christian faith, living or dead. You don’t care about those peoples rights.
Truthfully, I had forgotten about you until this came my way. Sorry to rain on your parade,
And Merry Christmas, or whatever you do.

You are a disgrace to the United States of America. As someone who has many family members being honored by someone who never met them with a wreath each year, some of my relatives for decades since they died, wreaths across America has been a tremendous organization. Maybe instead of attacking them you could do something to honor veterans, and those like my family, killed in action. The fact that you would take the US Constitution as a reason to dishonor those who fought for it, especially since there’s nowhere in the constitution that says someone can’t put a decoration on a gravesite is disgusting. You all are an absolute disgrace and should be humiliated that you even exist. You are horrible horrible people. You don’t deserve any honor for anything you’ve done.

How about you get a life and stop your snowflake liberal crap. You liberals go around screaming everything offends you, just hoping you will stumble across something that stirs everybody up. Your not offended by anything, you’re just looking for your 15 miutes of fame. Leave our fallen heroes alone, along with the few left in this world who still honor them.

Sad state of affairs. It’s all prophesized people; What was wrong will become right, what was right is now wrong’ But then you wouldn’t know the prophecy it takes reading the Bible.

The Lord loves you anyway it’s your choice weather you love Him or not.

Have you people nothing better to do, there are so many problems we face in this world and you are protesting a wreath??????????????? You are all disgusting atrocities!!!!! Hang your heads him shame, instead why don\’t you spend all this extra time you all seem to have to n your hands perhaps helping a family in need with some food……………………….. Your organization will not survive if you keep up this crap!!!! No one will want to associate with you people. Most Veterans in these Graveyards are of a Faith that would allow for a wreath. Other Marked Headstones with Star of David are respected.

  6. Lee December 10, 2021 at 4:50 pm

Tell you what why not hold a Vote for families to say what they want, you ASSUME way to much!!!

  7. Debra Richards December 16, 2021 at 1:21 pm

It is not an atrocity nor a disgrace when someone lovingly places a wreath on a soldier’s grave. It is an act of respect and appreciation to the soldier. I see you have a headstone with the Star of David circled in the picture. Many people are involved in placing the wreaths on the graves. Maybe a child put it there or someone just mistakenly did, but no matter it would have been placed there with love. Anyway, this world is upside down and inside out and your focus is this? Actually, you are part of the problem with your WOKENESS nastiness. I feel sorry for anyone that has this cold hearted and WOKE attitude. Shame on you…but hey gotta keep that pot of WOKENESS stirred up! Right?
