Excerpt from op-ed:
“Despite a clear, lawful order to get vaccinated, tens of thousands of active duty (9,500 Marines, 5,360 sailors, 8,000 airmen and guardians, and 9,700 soldiers) and reserve and National Guard service members have refused to be vaccinated, thereby disobeying a lawful order and being insubordinate. Insubordination in the military is the act of disobeying a lawful order of one’s superior and is punishable under Article 91 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.”

Larry Wilkerson is spot on! As usual! One of the smartest political analysts on the planet in my books. Look at ANY military member’s shot records (for those that have been in a few years) and you’ll find they’re probably one of the most vaccinated you’ll find anywhere. They have to be because they are, to put it simply, “instruments of war!” And you’ve never heard any of them complaining during a POM process (Preparation for Overseas Movement) when they’re caught up to date on all the vaccines required for the area of deployment. Not a peep out of them! So what’s the difference now? We’ve gone through an era of the support of this type of insubordination by their very own Commander in Chief! That’s the difference! The Draft Dodger In Chief (Trump – 5 bone spur deferments), thinks he gave military members a right to question the vaccine mandates. But many are finding out he’s wrong as they get booted out of service! It makes it very difficult to preserve strategic readiness when you have a Cdr In Chief calling the pandemic a “hoax!” Not to mention telling you to inject disinfectant, take horse pills, malaria pills, and shove infrared light up your bum!
No one wanted to take the anthrax vaccine when we all deployed to Iraq! But we did because we follow orders! If I were weighing the two against each other I’d damned sure opt for the COVID vaccine over the Anthrax shots (all three of them) with regards to safety and efficacy in terms of what we knew about the anthrax vaccine going into Desert Storm.
This is an all volunteer military. All of them big boys and girls. They knew when they joined that they were becoming part of a strategic military machine. That their “rights” are not the same as the average American. They don’t get to pick and choose which shots they’re going to take. Unit readiness is measured and reported, to include personnel readiness, by every military unit. Part of that readiness is medical readiness. Those readiness profiles provide decision makers with the ability to match force requirements to the required contingency. Having some of those units less prepared to meet operational requirements because some of their members refuse to take a vaccine ain’t gonna work! It doesn’t work that way.
Trump undermined all of it! He was, and is, the Insurrectionist In Chief! He fomented the insurrection and lack of trust in the very institutions that provide our National Security! The institutions that keep America safe! The institutions that provide for our national defense and preserve our way of life! The insolence of the man-baby in the White House brought us to the brink of losing our Democracy!
The fix is simple – kick their asses out! And the DOD is doing just that! Rightly so! If they’re not going to follow orders, they’re not fit for military service! Period. Full Stop! The vast majority of military members ARE following orders and getting vaccinated. The small percentage that are not, although numbering in the thousands across the DOD, Coast Guard, and other federal agencies, need to go! Go be a civilian again! Simple!
