MRFF Exposes Recently Retired Army Chaplain’s PhD Dissertation Revealing Southern Baptist Blueprint to Convert the Military

The dissertation, “The United States Military: A Field for Great Commission Fulfillment,” was written by William C. Harrison, a Southern Baptist Army chaplain for 27 years, who just received his doctorate in “missiology,” defined in the dictionary as “the study of religious (typically Christian) missions and their methods and purposes,” from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

The gist of Harrison’s conclusions is that military chapels, with all their “pluralistic inclusivism,” are bad, and that Southern Baptists must “plant” their own churches outside of every military installation, then siphon off military members and their families who attend these non-Southern Baptist, and thus “non-Christian,” military chapels.

That’s right, Southern Baptist chaplains, paid for by the U.S. government to run and preach in military chapels, want to “flood” the military with the goal of undermining those very same military chapels by “planting” their own churches outside of military installations and stealing military congregants.

I’d prefer the bars and restaurants “planted” outside of military bases. Seriously, the Ollie’s ‘ollie burger’ outside Ft. Meade in Odenton was damn near a religious experience.

The article’s title says that Chaplain Harrison received a Ph.D. from Midwestern Baptist. I’ll take that as true even though the article doesn’t confirm the assertion; ergo it’s possible he received a D.Min. rather than a Ph.D. (the D.Min. is a professional degree, not an academic one).

Midwestern does indeed offer the Doctor of Philosophy degree. Neither I nor the multitude of my friends who attended there can imagine how that’s possible. We were stunned at the audacity when the announcement was made. Midwestern has neither the faculty nor the research capacity for terminal degrees. We believe that any Midwestern Ph.D. must be a corollary degree in conjunction with either UMKC, KU, or other nearby large universities that would be able to address Midwestern’s shortcomings. Regardless, we feel that a Ph.D. from Midwestern would be viewed with some skepticism.
