Subject: Alumna Urging a “Stand-Down Half-Day” at USMMA

Dear Military Religious Freedom Foundation,

I understand that USMMA Midshipmen are circulating a petition asking for the curtain on the enormous Jesus mural to be removed. I understand that Christian practices are routinely and unlawfully forced on Merchant Marine Academy Midshipmen.

I urge MRFF to ask the Merchant Marine Academy to consider conducting stand-down training. I suggest this occur over a half-day in the very near future. Led by either military officers, retired or active duty, or highly qualified mariners, of different religious cultures and faiths, Midshipmen would review their Naval Reserve oath from plebe year and the oath they must take before being commissioned as reserve and active duty officers. In these oaths Midshipmen swear to “support and defend the Constitution.” I hope discussion would occur of the (No) Establishment Clause of the First Amendment; the civil service’s and military’s strict regulations prohibiting favoritism towards any religion; examples of unlawful religious displays that commanding officers ordered be taken down; and how supporting these laws and regulations makes one a more effective leader at home and abroad. Given the cost to the taxpayer of educating the midshipmen for service in the armed forces and merchant marine, I think nothing less will do.

I prefer the mural come down, and we can stop this controversy once and for all.

I believe the letter writers suggestion is a good one only it needs to be expanded. I believe all the branches of the military need a remedial class when it comes to the Constitution and Bill of Rights, with the class focusing specifically on the First Amendment.

Such an education would benefit We The People too but… and that is a huge but.

Freedom!!!, you can’t force me!, and I have the deity given right to believe as I want! are statements (or exclamations) I know will be thrown into any conversation regarding educating citizens on how their country is supposed to operate. Honestly no one should have to have read the owners manual but in my opinion it should be a requirement before accepting any position with the Military or Government (at any level i.e. Local, State, or Federal).

Again, I am speaking of opinion, specifically mine.

To the commentator urging folks to end themselves, you show us how it’s done first.

If you really are currently either a graduate of the USMMA or are enrolled in classes now I suggest you reread the bits about what it means to be a USMM. Based on your comment here the lessons you needed to learn didn’t take.

It costs nothing to be kind. Meanness leaves a mark which I hope affects your future in ways you can not predict.

    Grey One:

I am embarrassed for you and I send a fart in your general direction. If I graduated class of 200x, how could I be a current student?

“Kill yourself” is/was a sarcastic expression shouted by many a midshipman to people with boring and uninspired ideas. Sarcasm and cynicism pervades the merchant marine. You would know that if you weren’t an imposter.

A USMM? The mystery service designation only exists within the confines of the academy. Again, obvious imposter.

I will end by being more generous than you in praaaying you smarten up and stop boring people with your drivel, while there is still time before you kill yourself. I’m sure that you and the letter writer are lovely husbands to each other, but no one cares about your musings.

    Signed,
Someone who actually graduated from USMMA and has been in the merchant marine for over 20 years

Ben Franklin urges us all to Fart Proudly. Glad you know how to follow directions.

Spoken sarcasm doesn’t translate well to the written world as proven by your doubling down on being mean (oops, sarcastic /s). And I never said I graduated from any military academy. You assumed, which perfectly segues to just because you’ve been doing a thing for over twenty years doesn’t mean you’ve been doing it correctly.

I stand by my comment that you ( as well as the rest of the nation) need remedial lessons in how to better follow the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Since we’re buds and all, end yourself back atcha. (/s in case it’s needed)

The whole debate could be solved by simply getting rid of the Christ/life boat and putting up a Star of David. Too easy!

    Hey “Your Daddy” USMMA grad,
They teach y’all any grammar at the Academy? Admittedly, I don’t know anything about the USMMA, but looking at your diatribe, you don’t either (assuming that you occasionally have to write something while you’re there)! Maybe it was an elective and you took rowing instead? Just a guess.

Yes, if they put up a star of Gay-vid, MRFF would certainly turn a blind eye.

Wow GoodJob, well done, that’s a twofer, insulting both the Jewish and LGBTQA+ communities.

How very efficient of you. I bet you appreciate trains running on time too.

By the way, I’ve been following your antics all over the website. Seems you don’t have a word to say on your own except to appear to troll Ironmoped. Now they can handle the attention but it got me curious as to why you are so weak as to not stand on your own.

    Just asking questions….
