Passage of Senate NDAA Brings Us One Step Closer to Showdown that will Decide MRFF’s Fate — Please Make Your Voice Heard!

Christian nationalist Rep. Mike Turner’s amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to SHUT MRFF DOWN by making it ILLEGAL for members of the military to even communicate with MRFF is now part of the GOP-led House’s version of the NDAA, WHICH HAS BEEN PASSED BY THE WHOLE HOUSE WITH TURNER’S DESPICABLE, VINDICTIVE, AND UNCONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT STILL IN IT!!!
Last night, the Senate passed its version of the NDAA, which does not contain any language regarding MRFF. When Congress returns from its August recess, a conference committee made up of both House and Senate members will meet to reconcile the two bills. THIS IS WHERE TURNER’S AMENDMENT TO SHUT MRFF DOWN MUST BE REMOVED!!!
If Turner’s amendment is allowed to remain in the final, bicameral version of the NDAA, it will obliterate MRFF’s ability to protect and advocate on behalf of our service members facing religious discrimination, harassment, and aggressive proselytizing!

Have you listened to what Trump talks about when he takes his fascist freak show on the road? What does he talk about? Does he talk about the new healthcare system he said he was going to put in place after he promised to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act? I mean, having a better healthcare system would be something to crow about, wouldn’t it?
Does he talk about lowering prescription drug prices? Seems like I remember him saying, “who knew healthcare was so hard”? Well, everyone knew but you!
Does he talk about the great infrastructure program he implemented?
Does he talk about the 52 miles of border wall he built on the southern border that Mexico was going to pay for?
Does he talk about lowering taxes for the average American?
Does he talk about his Taliban negotiations that agreed to remove all US force by May of 21?
Does he talk about his release of 5000 Taliban prisoners?
Does he talk about wanting to meet with the Taliban at Camp David on the anniversary of 911?
Does he talk about the 2 million jobs he lost while in office?
Does he talk about the 600,000 lives lost during the COVID pandemic on his watch?
Does he talk about all the great people he appointed to his cabinet that he later fired? There were over 21 A-Team departures in his first year of office! A-Team turnover outpaced his five predecessors by a large margin. “I only hire the best people!”

When you have the likes of Marjorie Taylor (not sure what name she uses now that she’s divorced – I think it’s a family-values thing), and other Republicans running to news outlets saying they don’t care if the US defaults on its debt, then it’s to be expected that creditors might be concerned with the reliability of a borrower that says they don’t care if the bills get paid. That, coming on the back of an insurrection and the storming of the seat of Government would also cause concern in terms of credit ratings. Couple it with a growing debt (of which Trump ran up by $7.6 Trillion dollars), and you get a lowered governance rating which leads to uncertainty and a lowered credit rating.
55 of the largest corporations (2020) in the country paid, either, zero federal income tax, or received rebates from the taxpayer. These tax breaks were enhanced by Trump’s Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, as well as his CARES Act.

The list goes on. This is money uncollected that gets pushed onto the American people. The US will forgo $161 billion of revenues (taxes) in 2023 as a result of special tax code provisions for corporations.
50% of government revenue comes from individual taxpayers, about 7% from corporations, yet the infrastructure that allows those corporations to flourish are bought and paid for by the taxpayer, directly and indirectly.
A recent case study on corporate taxes shows what happens under Republican governance. Kansas former Governor Brownback lowered ALL business taxes to zero saying, “it will be a shot of adrenaline into the heart of the Kansas economy. It will [immediately] bring business to Kansas and grow the Kansas economy.” Mitch McConnell praised Brownback publicly and said, “We need that kind of leadership at the National level.” However; in the first year of Brownback’s “experiment,” (he actually called it an experiment,) the State of Kansas ran an $800 million dollar deficit! As States can’t run a deficit (they can’t print money), they went to education and transportation to cover their $800 million dollar loss. Brownback actually went on record saying, “cutting revenue will raise revenue!” WTF? Talk about gaslighting!
He was eventually overturned by a majority Republican legislature and taxes were reinstated (yes, Republicans raise taxes). He then fucked off to Washington where he got a job as Trump’s National spiritual advisor or some such shit!
