I don’t mean to malign anyone’s religious faith, but pushing it on subordinates in a military org is completely unreasonable.
From 1981 to 1992, I worked on flight simulators for the US military. Some are still in use today.
Whenever I read stuff like this, it shames me as much as the military chain of command. Kid, we (my colleagues and I) made the equipment to train you, and this crap is not making me proud of you! And if you didn’t train on stuff I suffered burnout to deliver, I’m still seriously unimpressed with you.
Go reread that constitution you supposedly promised to defend.
I agree, it is infuriating that unit commanders are still believing that they will get away with using their authority and power to push their religion on their subordinates. This indicates that all of the assurances we are hearing (and that MRFF reps and board members are hearing) from top brass in the military services about respect for diverse religious views are false and insincere. The fact that this is allowed to continue is an outrageous civil rights violation. Our military is losing a lot of good people due to this discrimination, and our country is suffering for it.
In this case, the MRFF and its representatives did another great job at stopping the rights of these service members from being violated. Keep up the good work, MRFF!

The DOD has a huge issue to clean up. For decades the higher ups looked the other way as overly zealous personnel crossed the line to push their faith on their subordinates. And here we are.
I’ve had Christian nationalists tell me in heated discussion that their vow to protect the Constitution was second to their vow to their deity. I and others tried to give them an out but nope, it’s deity first Constitution second.
Honestly I’m not sure why the DOD accepts the oaths of such folks. Personally I wouldn’t trust them but I guess it depends on the person. But as a whole? It’s Constitution first and should always be that way with citizens employed in the military or governmental service. If a citizen can’t swear that oath then perhaps another career path would be more advantageous for them.

In the USA we have a constitution that includes a Bill of Rights. The very first right mentioned in the Bill of Rights is religious freedom. Our constitution says explicitly that the government is prohibited from making laws establishing religion or prohibiting the free exercise of it. Note that the Bill of Rights prohibits “…establishment of religion.” It does not prohibit merely establishment of one religion over others or a state religion. It uses the wording that makes it as broad as possible. Government can’t establish religion, period. It was worded that way because the writers of the words knew that freedom of religion requires that government stay completely out of it. History and the state of the world today prove they were correct.
So, do what you want in Russia or wherever you are. But we in the USA want freedom of religion. And our laws require it, as the MRFF keeps pointing out to people who don’t believe in freedom of religion and don’t respect our laws. God (your particular version of God) does not come before country in the USA. It’s the law. Anyone who doesn’t like freedom of religion can always live in Iran or Saudi Arabia.
Whoever YOUR god is, that is the god that comes before the nation.

If everyone had a right to put their own gods before their nation, the official religion forced on citizens would change depending on the beliefs of whomever holds power. So your claim that god comes before nation makes no sense, leads to coercion in religious practices, and cannot legally be the basis of laws in the USA, as I already explained to you above.
While I realize that you are accustomed to government officials ignoring laws in your country, most of us in the USA are intelligent enough to know that leads to despotism and injustice. Greg, I’m glad we agree that freedom to practice one’s religion or non-religion is a good thing. That freedom obviously requires government to stay out of religion as required by the constitution’s Bill of Rights in the USA. That’s why the MRFF exists and why it does what it does.
As I’ve explained to other Christian nationalists, it is possible to place the Constitution first. One holds their faith inside themselves swears as a person of faith to uphold the Constitution. This means if there is an issue as a person of faith you defer to the Constitution first and then your faith to work out a solution. For folks of no faith it’s the same, Constitution first, ideas of religion are second.
This will only cause issues for those whose religion demands that all must believe as they do. And for that I’ve already stated that if your religion demands you subjugate all others then a position in governmental service is not for you.

School vouchers are one of the biggest scams to be advocated by those on the right. To provide your children a better educational future? An emphatic NO!
It’s to siphon off public funding of schools to help pay the tuition for those that are already sending their kids to private schools. In other words, a public subsidy for, you guessed it, the wealthy!
Republicans love socialism! As long as it serves them!
And what happens when public education money is stripped away from public schools? Public schools do worse. They have funding shortages. Which means your property taxes go up to replace the money that was stolen by voucher programs!
It will spawn the growth of “private” schools popping up all over the country. It’ll be couched in great marketing terms, as most advertising is, to show you a future education system that will take your public “voucher” money and park little Johnny or Susan in front of a computer for “self-directed” learning.
Private schools are completely unregulated. In other words, no standards. Home schooling will get a huge boost as some parents will opt for the benefit of taking that $10,000/year public voucher money as a way of adding income, a monthly Government stipend, a pay raise, the novelty of home-schooling wearing off pretty quickly once the paychecks start rolling in!
They couch it in terms of “failing schools,” to give an air of authenticity to the altruistic nature of their motivations to see that your children do better.
But it’s a SCAM!
Those with means (money) will never suffer the consequences. They’re already paying for private education to give their progeny a leg up. You’ll just be subsidizing their private education.
Most parents can’t afford private education, even with “vouchers.” It’s a wealthy family’s game. One to steal your money. One to socialize the cost of their success!
Don’t be fooled. Privatized education will decimate this country but it won’t show up for twenty years. It’ll be too late.
Those on the right want to do away with public education. Don’t let them.
