Another great interview by Mr. Weinstein pointing out the insidious and debilitating nature of the Christian Nationalists in our secular military.
The good news? They will and are eating themselves, the disjointedness of Trump’s entire cabinet, the left hand having no idea what the right is doing! You ask five different cabinet leaders a policy question and you’ll get five completely different answers, all noncommittal as they try to “guess” what Trumptie would want them to say. Each cabinet leader trying to out genuflect the other to show Trumptie they can kiss ass better than all the others! Comical.

The White House sits on 18 acres of land. Alcatraz sits on 22 acres of land.
Trumptie wants to re-open Alcatraz. If he moved the Trump White House there, he’d net 4 acres for a Tesla showroom. He could get a cut on every Tesla sold from the Presidential dealership.
Slap a little paint on it trimmed in gold.
Put a little driving range on the side of the body shop.

Plus the only reason he wantz it is because (I’m guessing here) he fell asleep watching the Escape movie and his dreams and reality combined so when he woke up he just had to have it. Ugh. Being in his head even in my imagination is just yuck.
Anyway, that’s not why I’m here. Just read SCOTUS allowed the Transgender ban in the military to proceed.
A warrior is a warrior no matter their exterior. Our service members are going to be the poorer for their exclusion.
That said, when you see your opponent making a mistake, stay out of their way.
The resistance is working. Remember this is a marathon, not a sprint. Rest, rehydrate, eat a snack. Do it in relay so everyone is refreshed and ready to go when the next wave of stupid breaks.
Grey One, one thing you and Synergy seem to have glossed over is the amount of money it’s going to take to bring Alcatraz back into serviceable condition. This ain’t a “slap a coat ‘o paint on it an’ call it a day” issue: it’s a matter of essentially rebuilding the entire complex. While the island itself may be OK, all the buildings will have to be completely refurbished. There are NO systems there that won’t need to be repaired or replaced. After all, this compound is out in San Francisco Bay, where it’s exposed to salt spray, the occasional earthquake, constant changes of tides and temperatures . . . the HVAC systems, security systems, electrical systems — everything out on “The Rock”, including the walls and ceilings themselves — will all have to be replaced.
But here’s what I can’t wrap my head around (though, to be fair, I really don’t want to — I’m with you on this, Grey One!): why do the President and SecDef want to disembowel our armed forces by pressuring folks who actually want to serve to leave instead? I enlisted in 1975, right at the end of the Vietnam Era and the beginning of the All Volunteer Force. After decades of people being involuntarily drafted, nobody was in a big hurry to enlist. And with the end of the Vietnam Era, there were pretty significant reductions in forces going on, even as we were gearing up for a bunch of modern new equipment and systems. It was not an easy time.
And these doofi (the plural for “doofus”) want to encourage people who want to serve to leave instead? Oy! Is this any way to run an organization?
Let me answer that last one: Yes! If you want to run the organization into the ground, that is . . . .
Oy vey J.P. All things being relative, you seemed to have missed that this administration has recruited only the “best and brightest” for the Chump administration. So, what you see IS the best and brightest available from the MAGA caucus, so, we have to cut them a little slack. I don’t mean to denigrate “special needs” vulnerabilities, but we do have to treat them with “special needs gloves” when countering their Alcatrazian ideas, hence the “slap a coat of paint on it” reference. If you gave them the full scope of associated costs, without sign language, it wouldn’t register.
But if you coat it in terms of a big new beautiful White House, it might get the orange glow worm warming up to the idea and his special needs cabinet falling in line.
I know a place on Fisherman’s Wharf they can rent out for his cabinet. I think Donnie would like the idea of communicating with his staff using a naval signal lamp. Kristi Noem can dress up like a sailor and man the signal lamp. I mean, it would keep her from pointing a gun at another cabinet member’s head as she cosplays a seaman, would be safer for the whole cabinet!
Yeah, I know, the signaling would take a bit to master, but we’d be no worse off than we are now with the Chump’s postings on False Social.
Just an idea. I know it would cost a bit more but am trying not to scare them off!
Mar-a-Trazo. I like it. The new seat of Trump governance, using governance loosely. Hollywood not far down the road, lots of costumes available for cosplay. Commerce Sec Nutlick gets to be “the Riddler.” I mean, what’s not to love?
Get the treasury to print a few bucks to pay for it. Child’s play!
Let ICE row over to the island occasionally. Homan and Little Marco can wear Napoleon hats, round up a few brown people “extras,” bring Dr. Phil with them – made for TV!
Pan the cameras in on Kristi signaling she’s hunting stray dogs on the island – too cool.
Grow their own veggies, put tariffs on the whole rest of the U.S. Get a few brown people to tend the garden and pick the lettuce. Cool!
These folks are special needs dependent. Gives them something to aspire to.

Oh, I wouldn’t change anything on the island because yeah, the buildings are falling down. I’d just sit at the edges and watch the waters go by, maybe some frolicking critters in the sea will stop by. The island was used (if I remember correctly) as a special place of meditation before the Europeans arrived. Might have even been integral to religious practices but as I say, my memory is fuzzy. I’m a rock person. When I visited way, way back in the day I fell in love with that silly rock stuck in the middle of the bay.
I know the horrors which occurred while it was operated as a prison. Figure some picnics would do the island some good.
All pipe dreams. No basis in reality. But even in my imagination I can’t (and won’t) think of the orange hued one making the place gaudy with their ‘gold’ embellishments.

I listen to Belle of the Ranch formerly known as Beau of the Fifth Column. I don’t know where they get their information but yikes! they are very accurate and have yet to pedal propaganda. Even if I don’t always agree I do leave their site having learned a thing or two.
So, one of the issues Belle brought up is how many drones and other machines of war the US Military has lost fighting the Houthis. I don’t know about y’all but if I was fighting a huge megalithic military force I’d knock done some of their war machines to see if I could either copy the tech or come up with a weakness to exploit. It’s dangerous that so much machinery is just lost.
In reading about the second plane to be lost to the same ship there were so many updates. FOTUS says cease fire, Houthis say stop hitting us and we’ll cease fire. Israel just jumped into the fight and bombed the airport, most likely killing a lot of civilians and now it’s just game on.
And through it all sits the FOTUS, replete in his gold room telling all us Americans that he doesn’t know if he has to defend the Constitution, he needs to check with his lawyers and he’ll get back to us.
I thought oaths meant something. I mean, why take them if they can be tossed away like a used paper towel?
