MRFF’s Mikey Weinstein Rebukes Duffy’s USMMA Football Game Video: “You have Christian men dedicated to country … This is America at its finest.”

“Can you imagine the putrid and boundless conceit of that piece of shit Duffy and how it must’ve made everyone else feel who saw that video at the United States Merchant Marine Academy, or any place else for that matter? We here a the Military Religious Freedom Foundation have heard from Academy faculty, staff, midshipmen, and graduates who are neither Christians nor male and as you might imagine they are furious.” — MRFF Founder and President Mikey Weinstein

Hey Mikey shut your dirty mouth. Those fine young men at that academy ARE America’s finest. If what Duffy said offends you so much you need to get a hobby or get a life.
And there it is, the penny drops and the old soldier violates the Constitution they “say” (using the Texas pronunciation where the word say is seven syllables long) they swore an oath to protect. Honestly I’m having my doubts. Mikey’s provided his bonafides on this site. Where are yours old soldier?
So, if I’m reading this article and so many others all over the interwebz correctly the only way to be a fine upstanding soldier is to be A. Male, B. the correct flavor of Christian, and C. The correct color of pale.
I caught your dog whistle of dirty mouth old soldier, you sad excuse of a veteran. I almost called you unAmerican but nope, nope. old soldier is totally on brand as the ugliest of American citizens, where bigotry isn’t a bug but a feature.
I know our society hasn’t gone that far back. It’s just those who already held those bigoted views are feeling their oats these days. I mean, I can’t really blame them. Bigots run SCOTUS, FOTUS, and both houses of Congress.
By the way, bigots are experiencing the FA part of this societal equation. I look forward witnessing their burn out as they get to live through the FO too.
Old Soldier, there are some untenable assumptions in your response to Mikey, and I feel it appropriate to bring them up for discussion nere. For example, you wrote, “Those fine young men at that academy ARE America’s finest.” Assuming that to be the truth, we should expect to have seen them recruited by the Academies of the Armed Forces. Do we have any evidence to support that contention? Were they recruited and turned down offers? Can we think of any other rational reasons that they might have chosen to attend the Merchant Marine Academy, rather than Annapolis, West Point, or the Air Force Academy? Because, generally speaking, the Armed Forces Academies are considered far more prestigious than the Merchant Marine Academy.
We should also ask if “the fine young men” truly are “fine” young men. What makes them “fine”? Defining the term would go a long way toward a more productive discussion.
While we’re at it, why only young men? Are there no fine young women at the Merchant Marine Academy?
On a final note, Mister Weinstein and MRFF do not wade into legal battle unless there are clients who ask for assistance. According to the story, there are people who need legal representation against the clearly un-Constitutional efforts of Sec. Duffy to paint the Merchant Marine Academy as a solitary, undifferentiated mass of people all following the same religious teachings with the same degree of fervor. As Mr. Weinstein indicated in his post, MRff has heard from faculty, staff, Midshipment and graduates who do not feel Sec. Duffy represents them.
Old Soldier, in telling Mikey to “shut [his] dirty little mouth”, you’re essentially telling those faculty, staff and students — past and present — to shut their collective mouths and quit complaining about the indoctrination they’re under no obligation to accept.
And is that message really appropriate from a Chapel Management specialist?
Old Soldier, your comments in response to Mr. Weinstein’s reaction to Sec. Duffy contain some unspoken assumptions that really need examination. Permit me to surface and critique them.
First, you wrote, “Those fine young men at that academy ARE America’s finest.” There are two unarticulated assumptions here. You mentioned “fine young men” but failed to acknowledge that fine young women attend the Merchant Marine Academy as well. This might pass muster if Sec. Duffy were referring only to the football team, as it is a men’s sport. However, it fails to meet socially accepted standards because the Secretary of Transportation made it clear that he was talking specifically about men.
The second assumption is that only the finest men attend the Merchant Marine Academy. Over the course of my 68 years, I’ve been told that the finest men (and women) are recruited by and attend the Air Force Academy, West Point, or Annapolis. If these are, indeed, America’s finest young men, why aren’t they attending one of the armed forces’ academies?
Your objection to all of this seems to center on the idea of the Merchant Marine Academy being a homogenous group of people who are all essentially the same. Yet, according to Mr. Weinstein’s release, MRFF “have heard from Academy faculty, staff, midshipmen, and graduates who are neither Christians nor male and as you might imagine they are furious.” My recollection over the course of a 20 year career in the USAF is that chapels and Chaplains are supposed to work with service members, regardless of their sex, gender, or religious orientation, to help them in their times of need. Chaplains should work with people according to the tenets of the service members’ faiths — NOT the Chaplain’s faith. If you object to this core mission of Chaplains, I would really appreciate you explaining how you were able to function as part of a chapel team.
Well you sure told him Old Soldier!
Chaplain’s assistant in Desert Storm? OK, we get it.
Get the VA to adjust your meds bruh.
