“Mikey Weinstein, founder of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, said servicemembers are being ‘voluntold’ to attend Hegseth’s worship sessions.
“‘When you’re told that he’s going to have a Christian praise service, and that is quote ‘optional,’ you’re being voluntold,’ Weinstein said.
Weinstein, who served for a decade as a military lawyer, said he had heard from ‘over 150’ servicemembers who reported to the foundation that names of those who attended religious services were being recorded, and that servicemembers felt pressured to attend.”

You know, having been associated with the military for many years, it’s pretty obvious any time senior military leaders get a crowd together and do an “invocation, prayer, etc,” what they’re really telling the work force is that “they” (the leaders) have the power of the divine almighty on their side and that YOU need to show subservience to THEM. Their opening invocation is an appeal to divine authority to give THEM the power.
If it were about religion, they’d be doing it in a religious setting. But the setting, like in Hogsbreath’s case, has everything to do with his personal magical thinking, but nothing to do with religion.
It’s not about religion. It’s about your complete fealty to a magical divine authority that has been mysteriously bestowed upon THEM!
In the organization I worked for, in the deep religious south, every meeting of a large crowd always began with an invocation, a transfer of almighty power to the authority that called the “it’s not mandatory” gathering. The “voluntold” gathering.
So, my open display of insubordination during this transfer of supernatural powers, was to sit back down during the invocation and pull out my cell phone while they were doing their magical transference of mystical authority, tacking on their crowd-fealty acknowledged “Amen” at the end. A crowd-conferred acquiescence to this mystical transfer of supernatural power.
Much to my dismay, I was never challenged. Not once! Yes, I got more than a few disdainful looks but I also got a few looks of “I’m on your side but I’m too afraid not to go along with the party line.” The Asch conformity experiments all around us, particularly in the military setting.
All that to say, there are ways to tell them to “stick it up your ass” without having to open your mouth.
Whether or not you’re a “believer,” it should be patently obvious that outside of a religious setting, an invocation to divine authority is inappropriate and should not be a part of the gathering, particularly in a military setting. The whole purpose of my organization, ultimately, was to kill people. The purpose of the DOD, when boiled down to its fundamental purpose, is to kill people. Call them the enemy, call them what you like. But the idea that a creator God is going to mystically intervene on your behalf to help you kill people if you pray to him is patently absurd and hypocritical. It’s an insult to the barest of intellectual capacity.
If you don’t believe me, look at the outcomes of US military conflicts since Vietnam. Yeah, you’d think we’d learn. But ….. politicians! Christian politicians! God wasn’t on our side! The other team won!
My advice to military members is to tell Petey Hogsbreath to stick it up his ass! There are ways to do it without having to open your mouth!
Time to take this country back!
And time for Christians to take back their religion!
Believing in the Bible makes you a Christian. Reading it will make you an atheist!
‘Be ashamed to die until you have won some victory for humanity.” Horace Mann.
Nothing like them good Christians.
ICE detains a pregnant woman in Nashville, using force, she delivers in custody, and they take away her two day old baby from her.
You have to be a Christian to pull of this kind of cruelty! Donnie Doze leading the charge to distract from his pedophilia troubles.
Right on que, drop some more Epstein files and ramp up ICE, the gestapo, to terrorize the nation.
They ran a truck into a man running from a laundry mat, intentionally trying to kill the guy.
All being carried out by good Christian’s.
You just can’t get any more disgusting without Christianity! The most vile, foul, religion supporting the most disgusting acts being perpetrated in the land of the free.
What a fucking joke!
And your God watches.
