“It is inhuman, unconscionable, and unconstitutional to silence VA chaplains,” Mikey Weinstein, president of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF), said in an interview. “This is propelling the Constitution into a woodchipper.”
“When you intentionally intimidate chaplains as to what they can and cannot counsel and pray about for fear of violation of the Hatch Act, it’s just bullshit,” Weinstein said. “Restricting the First Amendment rights of VA chaplains is what you would expect from a full-throttle fascist regime.”

This is straight out of 1984. NO references to “unpersons” allowed.
Once again the MRFF shows its BLATANT hypocricy. If they REALLY wanted to honor chaplains they could have mentioned today was Four Chaplains Day honoring the heroic men of God who gave their lives on the USS Dorchester in World War II. That shows how much they really care.
The subject of this article is NOT about “honoring chaplains” who died over 80 years ago. MRFF is too busy defending the rights of PRESENT DAY military (and military-connected) people: in this case, chaplains being told not to do part of their job because higher-ups don’t want them to remind people about the outrageous conduct of Kristi Noem’s Gestapo.
