No worries, saw the issues MRFF was having with this post. I had to clear all my caches before I was able to see/post. I suspect some troll dropped a bug or some such thing. Oh, I do get the thinking of the old soldier who yells at clouds. Let me put it in perspective: according to Rotten Tomatoes, the film was released on 30 January 2026 and earned $7 million over the course of the first week. Since then, it has earned an additional $200,000 at the box office.
The backers reportedly paid Melania $28 million for the story and her participation. Overall, the production and distribution costs amount to over $75 million. And in over two weeks in theaters, it’s pulled in less than a tenth of the cost of producing and distributing it.

It is not a secret on the interwebz that most folks leaving a rating for the Melania movie are politically motivated. The MAGA fans are saying best movie ever! The opposition are trolling it hard… and the best news in my opinion are the truthful critics who say it’s… meh.

Worst movie of all time? Not even close as the worst movies I’ve watched have all become cult classics. So, the meh reaction is to me the most appropriate reaction. Not even worth hating has got to be the new slam.
Oh, the funding is crystal clear, well, as clear as today’s politics can be. If I understand the facts correctly Bezos paid for the film, and I don’t understand this part but also paid theaters to run it? I think that was a line item in the final budget but not exactly confident how that works. Marketing, all of it was Bezos for the handy price of some quid pro quo regarding his favorite business named after a mighty river in South America.

Kind of like the arrangement they made when Iran attacked Al Udeid air base in Qatar at the end of the twelve day war. Iran threw some cheaper missiles at Qatar and made it target practice for US and Qatari Patriot Air Defense. They’d moved personnel and planes off the air base owing to advance notice of the attack, a couple of missiles got through to a more remote area on the base, and everyone walked away happy. No damage, no casualties.
But if he does that, the Israelis will be well pissed, the whole reason we’re there to begin with!
