There is a huge flaw in the concept of democracy. The flaw is that a candidate can campaign saying all the things the electorate want to hear but once elected can act completely opposite to campaign promises — and then cannot be unelected for several years. This erodes trust in democracy. And it has become so common place that some citizens are willing to throw out the whole system.
We need to correct this flaw. We need a law or a Constitutional Amendment that will allow citizens to unelect an official that has lied in order to gain public office or who, once in office, acts contrary to the good of the majority of citizens. If fifty percent or more of citizens petition the government for a no confidence vote on a government official we should be allowed to vote on whether or not that official should be removed before their next election. A fifty percent or more no confidence vote should be enough to remove the official.
Most of the citizens of the United States are opposed to the Republican Party’s current murder for profit decisions. If we were allowed to vote on whether or not to keep Trump for President and in each state to keep members of Congress who refuse to vote to limit his Israel First/defense industry greed agenda the citizens of the US might be able to do what Congress seems unable and unwilling to do and stop the murder of innocent people in a country that did not attack the US to start the current war.
Without this change in our law, democracy will not survive. Indeed, it has not survived. We are watching it being taken over by actors, liars and those invested in stocks that perform well when innocent people are murdered by the state. If members of state and national governmental bodies do not vote for this change, citizens should rise up and demand it. The alternative is to pretend we have a democracy when what we have is nothing but venue for liars.

I listen to many BIPOC voices on my socials and to a person they are telling me our country has only pretended to practice democracy. The way the system is working here/now is by design, not an accident they tell me. As a human who is paler than pale I believe them as their authenticity is proven in the streets every day.
That said, I concur with your idea of introducing a No Confidence Amendment to the Bill of Rights. Used to be if a person made a promise on the campaign trail they would try to keep it – well, for those who looked like themselves that is. For the rest of us? Yeah, no so much.

I’m not ducking the question. My view is pretty simple:
No, I don’t like that we went to war with Iran. I think the public case for it has been shaky from the start. Even Reuters reported that the Pentagon told Congress there was no sign Iran was about to attack the U.S. first, and Reuters also reported that the administration’s stated objectives shifted almost immediately, which is never a great sign when you’re asking people to support a war.
That said, Iran is not some innocent bystander that just got randomly picked on. They have spent years funding and arming proxy groups across the region, including militias in Iraq and Hezbollah in Lebanon, and those networks have been used to pressure Israel, attack U.S. interests, and destabilize the region.
And this didn’t come out of nowhere militarily either. Iran directly launched drones and missiles at Israel in April 2024, and later fired more than 180 missiles at Israel in October 2024. On top of that, Reuters reported in February and March 2026 that Iran had enriched uranium up to 60% purity, which the IAEA has said is a serious concern, and that a substantial amount of that material was likely still in hardened tunnels even after strikes.
The premise for this war, at least as sold to the public, looks weak and poorly explained. But Iran has also been begging for a hard response for years through its proxies, missile program, direct strikes, and nuclear escalation. Eventually that kind of behavior catches up with you. They finally got bit.
That does not automatically make this a wise war. It just means Iran bears real responsibility for helping create the conditions for one. Both things can be true at the same time.
What do I hope for?
What I hope for is a short conflict, a badly degraded Iranian missile and nuclear infrastructure, no wider regional spiral, no long U.S. occupation mindset, and a negotiated end that leaves Iran weaker militarily but avoids turning this into another open-ended Middle East disaster.
I don’t like that we’re in it, but I’m also not going to pretend Iran didn’t spend years acting like a country that wanted to test how far it could go. It tested that question for a long time. Now it has its answer.
