“This is the hill that I’m willing to die on. … There is nothing OK about threats of violence, racial violence in the military or anywhere in the world for that matter. We can’t allow this type of environment to exist in the Army. It’s not OK, our soldiers deserve better.” — MRFF client U.S. Army Captain Tatyana Jordan

Is Blackledge too young to have heard about how some officer misconduct was dealt with (frags) in earlier times?

  2. Grey One talks sass April 24, 2026 at 12:43 pm

They don’t care and sincerely believe they are above accountability. Or at least that’s been the attitude I’ve witnessed both on line and on video.

I concur with your thought process though Gino, truly I do.

  3. Synergy April 25, 2026 at 12:02 pm

Captain Jordan won’t read this but here goes.

It’s interesting that the one thing you don’t hear in Cpt Jordan’s statements to military.com is what would make her whole?

I think it’s a tempest in a tea pot. An AR 15-6 was conducted.

Is the Major in the wrong? Clearly. But the statements don’t sound malicious to me. It sounds like a case of a major that needs some sensitivity training. The Army, btw, has some very good sensitivity training programs that will make you eat some serious humble pie!

It sounds like the major uses outrageous statements as his way of “bonding,” through what he thinks is humor, as counterintuitive as it may sound, to build morale. Yeah, I know, some are gasping.

It’s like saying, “if you don’t get this done, I’m going to break every bone in your body!” I’ve heard my own sister use this comment to her own children. If I use the playbook told in this story, I should have called Child Protective Services on her? Not my choice of words but, get real.

Obviously, he’s not going to tie her to a tree and beat her, or punch someone kin the face, etc.

The captain admits that on the day a work assignment was due, she elected, rather than prioritize her work assignment, to do some drywall work for an enlisted soldier given the task because, she says, the soldier had an injured hand.

But, she’s a leader, not a drywaller! Something amiss here if you’ve got a captain doing drywall work! Sounds like the soldier tasked with the drywall work is more of a leader. He/she got the Captain to do it for him/her.

She mentions her child was in ICU because of a lung problem, which the major apparently visited and prayed over but why mention this to military.com if not using the sympathy card to bolster a completely unrelated complaint?

Contrary to what she thinks, she’s not Rosa Parks. She never mentioned any past discriminatory behavior by this major or previous systemic issues regarding racial profiling or discrimination which would be front and center in a unit that had systemic issues. The evidence would be readily apparent.

She’s going to ruin her career. She was already moved. If she doesn’t recognize it, then she’ll keep on with complaint, victim behavior and weed herself out. Commanders don’t have time for the bullshit.

And she will, as a result, become a bitter, forever victim. She’ll leave the Army. And she’ll teach her children that being a victim is a path forward for life’s challenges. Her children will become what she is, emulating the behavior of their leaders – their mother and father. It sounds like the Captain’s husband, who she also reported as being “irate,” is also on the victim train. Two mentors that handicap the success of their own children. Victimization indulgence rather than self-reliant success.

Relying on the past sins of the nation regarding racial discrimination, slavery, etc as part of the narrative? I’m sorry, not buying it. Particularly coming from a black female captain in the United States Army.

I go along with criticism along racial and religious lines given the current administration and religious nutjob running the DOD, but that’s not what this is about.

I think she’s hurting herself and identifying her own shortcomings, her own insecurities in her position on display.

She needs a mentor, not an enabler. In this case, the Army has said, “your allegations are unfounded.” The IG wouldn’t touch it, according to the Captain. Why? Because it’s a tempest in a tea pot. They’re not going to spend time working on a non-problem.

Move on Captain! Before you destroy your own career! A very good career – if you can keep it! The only one getting in your way right now is YOU! How can you get the best out of people you lead while showing them it’s best to be a victim when life doesn’t go your way?

She says, “this is the hill I’m willing to die on.” Yeah, good luck with that! What fucking hill? You’re standing on flat ground baby girl! Below sea level! Self inflicted injury to yourself, your family, your career, and those you’re charged with leading. And because it’s below sea level, you’re going to drown yourself in the waters of victimization.

You have the honor of a lifetime. To be a leader in the United States Army. Don’t let yourself be a victim. Leaders aren’t victims. They’re resilient. They find best solutions to problems. They mentor others. They lead by example.

Kick yourself in the butt and be a leader! As they say in the Army, “Be All You Can Be!”

    Gino’s frag comment? Really?

  4. Grey One talks sass April 25, 2026 at 3:06 pm

Wow, Synergy. Looking at the issue from your perspective, I see what you mean.

Oofda it’s easy to get swept up in the thick of it all, and I’m not easily swept away. Or I used to think this was a fact about myself. Reading my comment and your reply… yeah, I have some work to do.

My overarching emotion left with the entire confrontation is how easy, how casual specific folk are with harmful language, ignorant of who is around them aka neglecting to read the room.

Personally I don’t care if a person is racist to their core as long as in the public square they treat all occupants of said square with the same rights as they enjoy themselves. Unfortunately that “as long as” clause is proving to be an issue for a whole slew of folks who never walked a minute in the shoes of another.

I understand the impulse. Synergy is correct – it’s not a movement, it’s a moment. Move on, save your career because it’s not so easy a thing to get back what was either taken from one or tossed away, just saying.

  5. Synergy April 25, 2026 at 6:05 pm

Well said Gray One, “it’s not a movement, it’s a moment.” I’m stealing that one.

I’ve been fortunate to have been deployed, although a federal civilian, in military uniform imbedded with specific military units into combat zones. Many times. They were the worst of times but they were the absolute best of times! I wouldn’t trade that experience for anything in the world. Can’t describe the privilege of being a part of it, right alongside our military. In one instance, literally in the same fox hole. We (our unit) scared the shit out of all of us one night during desert storm ending in a dive for a fox hole. Was hilarious – after the fact.

To see a young female black officer fall on her sword over what looks to me like stupid stuff ….. I don’t think she realizes what she’s doing. It’s hard enough, even today, being a female, especially competing in an ultra-testosterone environment without petty stuff bogging you down. Her forbearers would advise her differently, a pick-your-battles kind of thing. She’s got more to give than what she’s giving, imo. She needs a mentor. Do the civil rights and Rosa Parks thing after your military career. You’ll be better positioned to win the war rather than just a battle or two and – much wiser with a whole lot more experience.

Apologize if I stepped on any toes but this one? For the female captain’s sake? Don’t throw your career away by being a pain in the ass!

She’s probably feeling worse now that she’s been moved. If she leaves the Army, they win! Whoever she perceives “they” to be.

This is long winded I know but I met a young female black Captain on a deployment to Kuwait. We became kind of, for lack of the right words, battle buddies by way of having to brief the commander in battle update briefings daily. I went first, she followed. I helped her a little bit before we went into briefings, she was very nervous initially briefing senior officers and we became friends as a result. I had her back for the battle updates.

She stopped me one morning telling me she had been taken to jail the day before – military confinement. The Southwest Asia Commander had to come sign a hand receipt to get her out. She was given a requirement to counsel herself with a plan for improvement and then monitoring and evaluating the outcome with a final synopsis of results. She was lost, flummoxed, didn’t know what to do.

The incident came about as a result of making it to breakfast just after the dining facility had closed. She went in the back door up to the cereal bar and grabbed a styrofoam bowl and a box of cereal when she was stopped by the mess sgt telling her the dining facility was closed. She told him she knew she was late but all she wanted was a box of cereal. He admonished her for “not being on my head count” for coming in after the facility was closed (like it would make a difference to provisioning for the next meal). Frustrated, she tossed the styrofoam bowl at him and walked out. He called the MPs and they locked her up for assault, the styrofoam bowl hit the mess sgt.

The bottom line is that I wrote her self-counseling for her (I do mil-speak pretty well), and it was completely successful. Her commander was impressed. I think the visibility actually helped her. The commander obviously wasn’t too concerned with it, asking her to self-counsel. Commanders don’t have time for a bunch of BS.

We kept in touch after the deployment for a little while and she went on to do great stuff, got promoted, etc.

All that to say Captain Jordan has too much going for her if she’ll give herself a chance, re-align her thinking and get out of her own way.

Sorry for being so long winded. Thanks Gray One. Good words as always.

  7. An old Soldier who doesn't support the MRFF April 26, 2026 at 9:43 am

Military chaplains who attend to Soldiers spiritual well being are God’s angels of mercy and have one of the most important jobs in the military. Let us NOT condemn all for the actions of one. The MRFF has ALWAYS bad mouthed military chaplains

  8. Synergy April 26, 2026 at 10:52 pm

Speaking of angels, ever thought about how, should a Christian be fortunate enough to get into heaven (you need some work old schooler), that you can never become an angel?

The hierarchy you just left on earth continues. I understand the first millennium you carry the “rookie” title and get to wash feet. If you’re good, you can advance to sandal making. Then on to hemming garments. Yeah, it takes awhile to get to where you’re a clothes fitter.

But you’ll never be an angel, or an exalted or anointed one. Just an average forever entrant, there to serve, just like you did on earth. A heavenly North Korea. At least in North Korea you can die and get away from the Dear Leader!

Tell God you can have my slot old schooler! So now you have two chances of making it.

The MRFF has always supported the constitutional rights of all service members. I don’t see that changing.

  9. Synergy April 26, 2026 at 11:06 pm

How come you don’t see many female chaplains old schooler?

The dripping irony of the cult writ large. Baked in misogyny. Your God wants women to know their place! And so does Petey Hogsbreath and, generally, the Republican Party. Many on the right calling for the repeal of the 19th amendment. Keep those women barefoot and pregnant and in the kitchen where they belong, ready to serve. And unable to vote!

It doesn’t matter the religion. They’re all the same when it comes to women. Living incubators and pleasure toys for all those emasculated boys pretending to be real men.

The MRFF has ALWAYS supported the constitutional rights of all service members, military and civilian.

  10. Grey One talks sass April 28, 2026 at 5:46 pm

The old soldier who yells at clouds and whines a lot about sour grapes said this: “The MRFF has ALWAYS bad mouthed military chaplains”

Really old soldier? You have the receipts to back up your very declarative statement?

Because as long as I’ve been commenting here I’ve watched the MRFF and Mikey call out bad behavior by those chaplains. Is that what you are calling “bad mouthed”? Because those chaplains refused to follow not only the Constitution but the military rules and regs for their specific branch?

Your jealous nature is getting the best of you old soldier. Might want to take a look to that before it leads you into saying something you can’t walk back.

Others have said it and I’m repeating it – the MRFF and Mikey Weinstein have always been about defending the Constitution and Bill of Rights from theocrats who really want to get their greedy hands on the citizens of this nation on behalf of those same citizens who serve. Taking over the military is on the theocrats punch list so I’m not extrapolating a motive, I’m believing folks when they tell me who they are.

Old soldier has said time and again that he’s all team theocrat letting me know his oath taken when in the service as a chaplain was a falsehood. Fairly certain their deity of choice has some rules or such about that topic but since the old soldier is a maverick rule breaker I’m sure he’ll be fine when standing at the pearly gates.

    Yeah, nothing to worry about.

Why is it that I always think of the correct phrasing right after I hit the post comment button?

What I said: ” the citizens of this nation on behalf of those same citizens who serve”

…the citizens of this nation, many who choose to enter military and public service.

Ah well, grateful there isn’t an edit button. No, I prefer our trolls to own their words, thank you very much even if I sometimes regret not being the nimble linguist of my mind.

what difference does it make if she is black or not?

  13. Grey One talks sass April 30, 2026 at 3:18 am

What a comment from Windy who fakes ignorance of American history for the likes and clicks.

Not leaving your comment alone. I’ve already stated my opinion on the Captains next steps and I’ll repeat it here because ignorance has entered the conversation.

The casual racism the Captains’ superior used, the nonchalant application of historically charged violence must be addressed whenever it pops up in life. I keep saying When we know better we do better, and I’ll keep saying it until WeThePeople actually do better.

Right now from both MAGA and our local trolls all I’ve witnessed so far is a compilation of our greatest racist hits.

We know better and yet we choose to cling to that one shred of the past that says humans who look different can’t possibly be as intelligent as ourselves.

What a waste, what an absolute waste of time and resources.

Do better Windy. Your ‘just asking questions’ method of trolling is so last century.

  14. WindyweinerWeinstein May 1, 2026 at 4:40 pm

Phantom racism. Is the racism in the room with us?

  15. Grey One talks sass May 2, 2026 at 3:43 am

Oh Windy, you shoulda kept your comment to yourself.

I know, you are trying to “own the libs” only you’ve just outed yourself as the bigoted and racist piece of crap that you are.

Is racism in the room you ask – LOL you stupid bit of data. It’s embodied in our laws, in our culture. It’s in our ads and TV shows. It’s how so many of the perps in my crime shows are people of color even though those same people of color are not represented as main characters.

Racism is USA, it’s in how our government has time and again told people of color to live “over there” because those lily white folks just can’t stand anyone who doesn’t reflect their own ghosty selves only to get massively pissed when those same people of color not only go “over there” but they thrive.

I know, the nerve of some folks to leave us wyt’s alone as ordered but then do fine without our great rescuer selves.

So yes Windy you racist piece of crap, racism is in the room with us, even me who is doing their best to get over themselves. You? You like being a piece of crap. How do I know? If you didn’t you’d be saying and doing something else.

  16. WindyweinerWeinstein May 3, 2026 at 9:14 am

Is the phantom racism in the room with us?

  17. Mary Cartledgehayes May 5, 2026 at 2:11 pm

As an ordained minister, I’m disturbed and disgusted by the number of people replying who are okay with a military chaplain joking about violent behavior. That’s not leadership. Neither is it congruent with any religious tradition I’m aware of except perhaps Hegseth’s heretical hurray-for-war-crimes version of Christianity.Sensitivity training won’t correct the major’s deficiencies. He needs to be reprimanded and demoted.

  18. WindyweinerWeinstein May 5, 2026 at 4:31 pm

But I’m black… Make it make sense!

  19. Grey One talks sass May 6, 2026 at 6:19 am

Wow, Windy, you say that as if it matters to the point you are trying to push on the rest of us.

You know who is also Black? Tim Scott, Clarence Thomas, John Maples, Byron Donalds, Jason Whitlock, Amber Rose, Lorenzo Sewell, and Nick Cannon. All Trump loyalists (H/T to the field-negro blog for the list) and all doing their best to embrace systemic racism with all their bells and whistles.

    You’d fit right in Windy.

Make it make sense? No, not my job Windy, you need years of therapy to unpack that trolly full of luggage. It is after all stacked to the ceiling. Better get to work.

I’m sure you’ll let us know when your task is complete?
