NRC San Jose removed the entire POW/MIA table rather than display it without a Bible.
“When I reported for my reserve drill weekend, I was initially dismayed on Saturday to see a Bible prominently displayed on the POW/MIA table in the quarterdeck. Rather than sit with that concern all weekend, it was reassuring to know that Mikey and the MRFF team would support me every step of the way.
“After working with MRFF through a few emails and a phone call, the issue was resolved overnight. When I returned to drill on Sunday morning, I observed that the POW/MIA table had been removed.”

Old soldier is just fussy because the theocracy isn’t going as expected aka old soldier isn’t getting the accolades they expected. Instead it’s Mikey getting the interviews and and praise for the work they do on behalf of all service critters.

I do hope that Old Liar and Baron von Windischmeer know that the POW table was consciously devised to NOT have any scripture or bible on it.
The good people who put these tables together do it to honor our fallen men and women. The MRFF dishonors them for publicity and money and that makes me sick
Redleg56, they are informed but like the rest of their ilk they prefer to pretend the USA is a theocracy with their specific flavor of Christianity as leader.
I’ve referred them to the Greatest God Joke by Emo Phillips but they’ve yet to report back on the message it conveys.
Why refer to a joke and not the specific rule/regulation? Because they consistently convey the concept of rules for thee but not for me in their interpretation of our Constitution. Tired of it to be honest. Would love some justice ala The Brothers Grimm where the punishments promised/doled out by the bad guys in the story are instead perpetrated on themselves. But those are fairy tales and this is reality.
The old soldier who whines all the time has one thing correct – there are good people who put together the MIA/POW tables. I know, I said something nice about the old soldier. Don’t worry, I won’t let it happen again.
Historically when I think back at the POW/MIA table topic there always has to be that one human who spoils everything by branding the table with their specific book of faith.
Sounds harmless until you learn that branding the table with their and only their faith means they are telling all who see the table if you don’t follow THEIR faith as represented by the book on the table, you don’t matter so you won’t be looked for or found, and if in prison you will remain there forever because you don’t believe what they believe. It’s cruelty without saying words and is what the old soldier celebrates every time they comment here.
For the record, the MRFF only responds to POW/MIA table issues if a service critter – current or veteran – calls the MRFF because of the above scenario aka book of faith on a table that is inclusive for all and no faiths. The MRF really doesn’t have the personnel or time to be policing every military and veteran installation. But that never stops the old soldier nor the many bots and trolls who just have to be the gadflys of the internet.
You know, as a pagan looking in from the outside I always understood Jesus to be a ‘put another leaf in the table’ kind of guy. Too bad the old soldier embodies the “no room at the inn” archetype.

Wow, Beast, how about we don’t and say goodbye to the racism and bigotry which has haunted humanity for more than a minute?
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for doing some lynching, not the targets Beast prefers of course, but I don’t because humanity has a social contract wherein we each agree to treat others with the same politeness we want for ourselves.
Of course Beast doesn’t see things that way because of course they don’t as they are programmed to be as offensive as possible in spaces who advocate equality and the following of the laws written for the people by the people. And yes, programmed, bot or human the MAGA base however they identify has been programmed to hate their neighbor and to say horrific things.
Those are the folks I’d like to lynch, see how they appreciate the whole doing to others what you want done to yourself cycle of thought.
Side note – early in my life I identified as a masochist so the Do unto others ideology got me into a lot of trouble back in the day. I found out quickly the mantra of don’t be a jerk to be more accurate as it pertains to how we treat each other.
