Mr. Weinstein and the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, have provided me with support, encouragement, empathy, and advice when i needed it most.
I’m an (USAF enlisted rank withheld), straight out of (USAF training school name withheld) – stationed at (USAF base name withheld). I’m a (race identity withheld) and (religious denomination identity withheld), currently experiencing coordinated and sustained attacks from some people in my leadership. The wrongdoers are seeking to induce me to sabotage my career, and compromise my values and beliefs.
This is pertaining to my request for religious waivers, accommodations, and considerations. It is a dark moment in my life, and I’m not alone in experiencing this. Many airmen have committed suicide when faced with the prospect of being trapped in a military commitment, facing disciplinary action, or being denied their religious freedoms seemingly with the approval of the government.
Airmen in my shoes, should know that there are resources and advocates available to them – unaffiliated with the military – meaning they aren’t biased, limited, or corrupt in their doings. The military religious freedom foundation and Michael “Mikey” Weinstein, are that resource.
I’m still in the beginning stages of this ordeal, but so far he has provided me with – if nothing else – empathy, advice, and support. Please trust the process, please put god first, and value your wellbeing enough to seek out any and all means of guaranteeing your right to religious freedom.

Airman, I empathize with you! When I retired from the Air Force in 1997, MRFF didn’t exist. Had it been available to us, my wife and I might have had easier times: I was religiously unaffiliated, and she was a Reform Jew. We were fortunate: it was relatively easy to avoid religion-based conflict or discrimination. But today, things are a bit different.
I urge you to follow the advice given by MRFF and their experienced advocates. And hang in there — this current (mis-) Administration can’t last forever!
Still won’t change the evangalist hold on the USAF and at the USAF Academy.
Gunther, you are, unfortunately, correct. It won’t help folks in other branches of the service, either. But working together — supporting MRFF and writing to our representatives in Congress, we might still ease the hold they have on the services.
And if we vote against the funny-mentalist candidates in this year’s mid-terms, we might hasten the end of their hold!
