Mikey,

Thank you for everything you’ve been doing. I retired on (date withheld) after almost 24 years of service in the Marines with 4 combat deployments to Iraq and more than 12 years living overseas as both an enlisted Marine AAV crewman and a pilot and forward air controller. My decision to get out was based off several factors, but primarily it was the incompetence of the current administration and the cult-like adherence to the Christian Nationalism agenda by the cowards waiting in the wings to stomp all over the constitution and rights of those who serve and hold different, or no religious beliefs. 

Despite being in a critically short MOS and being requested to rescind my retirement paperwork, the battle of my conscience said that the honorable thing to do was to get out if I couldn’t pledge allegiance to the civilians appointed over me. I deeply miss being on active duty, but my crisis of conscience is just one story in what I am sure are tens of thousands of others just like it. 

I am somewhat more hopeful now that the drunkard will get investigated for his incompetence and the supreme dictator will go down in a flaming orange ball of failure. I know many sycophants will get away with no consequences but keep fighting the good fight. You have more morals and good intentions than the entire ilk of the current administration combined.
