Richard Dawkins will deliver the keynote address at the NC Parade Field at Fort Bragg. Joining him will be David Silverman, President of American Atheists, Mikey Weinstein, founder and executive director of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, and Dan Barker, a former evangelical preacher who is co-president of the Freedom From Religion Foundation. Popular rock band Aiden will be one of many bands playing a set of godless music. Nate Phelps, atheist son of the notorious ‘Thank God for Dead Soldiers’ preacher Fred Phelps, will also be speaking. The Phelps family, of Westboro Baptist Church, contacted Griffith asking for an invitation, which they described as “real balance” to the event. Griffith declined their offer.
