Dear (name withheld)
I’m writing in hopes that you’re not just another internet troll hiding behind a fake e-mail address (although I’m protecting myself behind a ‘nom-de-guerre’ just in case).
Mikey (yeah, that’s his name, get used to it!) shared your whine with me and I thought I’d return the disfavor.
Having been involved in the conflict between our secular democracy & the Christofascists who wish to destroy it since well before I became involved with the MRFF & Mikey; I’ve noticed that those who write fall into two broad categories.
First, those whom I call ‘Christians’ usually write in sincere hopes of convincing others to accept their faith for their own well-being and future (i.e.; avoiding ‘hell’, not that it’s real of course) and are usually couched in sincere terms and friendly concern; AKA ‘Christian Charity’.
The Second, (in which you fall) are frothing at the mouth diatribes (often with threats of physical violence, e.g.; “Watch out for that bus!”) usually best characterized psychoanalytically as ‘projective identification’ in with the speaker/writer projects all those aspects of his/her own personality which they most despise onto the target of their rage in order to be able to voice feelings & criticisms at another they cannot psychologically accept as valid self-criticism. Your focus on ‘Mikey’ as a ‘childish’ name is an example of making a mountain out of a molehill. Is that the best defense of your religious beliefs you an muster? Accusations of narcissism, taking pleasure in offending, insecurity, and rejection of which you accuse Mikey are literally just leaping out of you in your text. You must be terribly unhappy. Evidently your faith offers you no succor. Perhaps you should abandon it (whatever it is) and try humanism.
Of your various accusations against Mikey, I find ‘insecurity’ the most easily debunked and ridiculous. Here’s a man who’s chosen to take on the Christofascist organizations attacking American democracy, nearly single-handedly, who faces daily torrents of e-mail abuse (like yours), whose life & family have been threatened verbally & physically by those possessed by their religious demons and psychological illnesses, yet returns to the fray daily in defense of those ideals America has always been said to stand for but which, in truth, rarely has due largely to the lack of citizens with Mikey’s convictions. And, never forget, he’s not doing this just for his own aggrandizement; he & MRFF represent real people whose rights, guaranteed by the Constitution, have been violated by those whose sense of justice derives from the Spanish Inquisition.
And you, standing behind the safety of the internet, choose to sling mud & threats as though your actually represented the love of Christ.
Are you insane?
