No big win, next year they can just sell plain candy canes because you know why they are in the letter J don’t you, it is for Jesus. Ha!
Like with every comment CZ posts I had to do some research.
Per Snopes, who dug deep into the whole candy cane issue, the claim a candy cane is shaped as a J for Jesus is false.
Like all invading forces the Christian religion took what already existed and stamped their brand onto it.
The article I found is too long to post in the comments but it’s a good read.
From the Snopes article:
”Sightings: Fictional accounts of the candy cane’s religious origins are the subject of a number of colorful Christmas volumes, including The Candymaker’s Gift: A Legend of the Candy Cane by Helen Haidle (1996), The Candy Cane Story by Joy Merchant Nall and Thomas Nall, Jr. (1996), The Legend of the Candy Cane by Lori Walburg (1997), and the children’s book The “J” Is for Jesus by Alice Joyce Davidson (1998).”
On a side note – did you know Gravy, Pickle, Mac&Cheese, and Bacon flavored candy canes exist? I also found trick canes flavored with Wasabi, Sriracha, and Habenero pepper.
It it truly an interesting world we live in, amirite?
Snopes is a stupid site to quote. As beneficial as a screendoor on a submarine. And, in this case, they are wrong. Which is usual for Snopes.

And your counter evidence would be where exactly?
Being a sassy one I’ve many ideas of where you pulled your claim from but I’m doing my best to keep my resolution to be nicer this year.

Tom: has Snopes ever been shown to get the facts wrong? If so, give us a specific example.
How is this a win. You violated my religious freedom by having it removed. Religious freedom doesn’t mean we have something removed because it offends someone. It means we have a variety. If you don’t like Jesus candy, go get you some mohammed (or whatever) candy.
