You may be upset unnecessarily. In fact, you may be being manipulated. We agree that military personnel have every right to pray. We have no objection to prayer. We object to inappropriate proselytizing. You see, chaplains have a face book page wherein they can do all the praying and lecturing and teaching and enlightening they’d like. But that’s a separate page from that of the unit leader or commanding officer. That page may not be used to promote one particular belief system over others because it amounts to a government endorsement of a particular faith and violates the separation of church and state.
it’s pretty simple, really, but some want to have you believe we oppose prayer or Christianity or God or something like that. Nothing could be further from the truth. But some of those who want to promote their particular faith have an agenda that involves getting people like you to be upset at us for denying God or hating Christianity or whatever craziness they’re promoting today. We’re used to it, but I’m sorry you’ve been upset by being led to believe what they’re pushing today.
