Mr. Mikey Weinstein and the Military Religious Freedom Foundation:
We want to thank Mikey Weinstein and the the Military Religious Freedom Foundation for the several long phone conversations over the last week or so confirming that the MRFF will be accepting our newly formed group as a collective and, as needed, individual client for civil rights advocacy representation.
We presently comprise 249 female members of the United States military from all 5 armed forces service branches and the Coast Guard. We are mostly active duty with some who are on reserve and national guard status and some who serve as military branch civilians as well. Our members’ ranks span from flag officer to E-1.
We all have deep fears about our current rights and availability for reproductive health medical support in light of the recent U.S. Supreme Court case overturning Roe v. Wade. We fear reprisal and retribution by our chains of command should we make arrangements for abortions, contraception or any other reproductive health care needs. There are still so many unanswered questions here. And we know we will need MRFF’s help should we face either direct or indirect retaliation by our superiors if we elect to engage currently evolving resources to provide these often urgent medical needs.
We fully attribute this destruction of our basic human rights as women to such reproductive health care to the current climate of extremist Christian religious views. These misogynistic religious views permeate not only the Dept. of Defense and the Dept. of Homeland Security (Coast Guard) but our nation as a whole.
And for the record, 207 of our group of 249 military women are practicing Christians with the remainder from minority faith groups and non-faith groups as well.
Please do not share any of our identification information until such time, if ever, that any of our group’s members so request it.
We all admire and respect the advocacy that MRFF has consistently provided for so many years to blunt the advance of these extremist Christians and their sectarian agenda. They promote career-killing, anti-female attitudes and behaviors to the continued detriment of female armed forces members everywhere.
We will be in touch as needed, Mr. Weinstein and the MRFF.

To the 249 military-affiliated ladies asking for the MRFF’s help,
You couldn’t have gone to a better place for advocacy than the MRFF, I’m sure you’re well aware.
But you have to ask yourself how we got here to begin with. Did any of you vote red in the last election? If you did, then shame on you!
It’s not the blue party that’s taking away women’s rights to make their own health care decisions! Please remember that!
VOTE!
We only have two political party choices!
The ONLY way to fix this is to Vote Blue in 22! In big numbers! Help get out the vote!
If the Republicans forcing a 10 year old RAPED child in Ohio to carry to term isn’t enough to show you where this is going, then you simply have no reasoning abilities. It is radical and it’s coming from the far right! But the far right is doing everything it can to get back the House and Senate in 22.
The dismantling of Roe V Wade is just the beginning, there’s a lot more to come! States are already working on legislation to make it illegal to travel to a different State for an abortion. Texas has a legal “bounty” in place to get you to turn your neighbor in! They’re interfering in a big way with public education in favor of a more “christianized” curriculum, banning books (in some cases burning them in publicized Christian events).
The Republicans want to make contraception illegal! Clarence Thomas wants to make civil unions of gay couples illegal, many of them providing loving homes for adopted children!
The list is endless. Republican Rick Scott wants to end Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid by way of a five-year sunset clause and also wants a federal minimum tax on workers (not corporations, all workers!). When Republicans say they don’t want to raise taxes, they mean on the rich!
I’m not saying the Democratic party is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but I am saying a woman’s right to choose is not on the Republican agenda! You ain’t gonna get there voting red! Particularly with the influence of Christian fundamentalism on the rise in the military and our Government!
The ONLY way to fix it is to fill the House and Senate with democrats in 22. Biden can’t do much to protect you without the ability to do away with the fillibuster, and he can’t do that with the current numbers, full stop (he can’t get by Manchin and Sinema).
If the Republicans take over the House and Senate in 22, Democracy is over in the United States! I don’t want to be able to say, “I told you so!” I want this country to move forward!
Good luck to you all. I sincerely hope you get the right to make your own healthcare choices restored and that you all have very successful careers in the military!
You will NOT get there with the Republican Party! It ain’t happening! You’ll continue to see a steady decline in all quality if life measures for all working Americans. You’ll see wealth inequality grow even larger, serious income disparities, and lowered quality of life standards for all Americans.
