How is it bigoted to advocate for enforcement of the regulations in the military that protect the constitutional rights of all the midshipmen to their own religious beliefs without having to endure having some else’s beliefs shoved down their throat? How long should non-Christian members of the service have to put up with proselytizing and a giant show of disrespect toward their own beliefs – both of which are strictly forbidden by the rules and the law? If the painting depicted Allah or Buddha, it wouldn’t have been up there on display for years, as you know.
For maximum effect and clarity, issues should always be boiled down to their simplest essence. In the case of this particular issue, that essence is this:
You have a constitutional right to worship and believe whatever you want to believe, and the power of government should be used to protect that right, BUT you have no constitutional, legal or moral right to impose your beliefs on others, and exposure to a sectarian expression, like the Jesus/lifeboat painting in a secular space funded by ALL taxpayers, is hijacking the power of government to advance YOUR beliefs at the expense of others’.
You can whine, play the victim and compose the most vulgar (and, frequently, incoherent, ungrammatical and misspelled) threats you want, but it will never and can never change the simple facts of the matter.
They’ll never get it. These are MAGA republicans. ‘merika! USA, USA, USA!
They live their lives waiting on the next one. I don’t know why they don’t get a jump on it and go now! Beat the rush!
