This reminds me of a long “short” story by Isaac Asimov involving an incompetent and Christofascist (a word not used at the time it was written) professor, apparently losing to a more liberal (or at least reality-based) rival for a department chairmanship. The meeting at which the dean and the other professors would decide the fate of the two men was about to start, with everyone in the room and about to be seated. The apparent “loser” began to speak, and began a long story (which was most of the text of the outer story) describing how, a few years ago, he had accidentally discovered that he had a supernatural ability to time travel into the past, make some change in the timeline, and return to his own time to see the result of the change. He described in detail how, using that power, he had gone back to the start of his career, when the university and the country were dedicated to freedom and liberty. He had made small changes here and there at different times, that had, by the time he finished his tirade, resulted in a Christian fundamentalist tyranny in which he, being a reliable informer to the leaders of that movement about the activities of their opponents, had become a member of the power structure himself. At that point, the meeting started and he was named head of the department, while the more talented and liberal man was arrested by the religious police and taken away. Written in the 1980s, this story was very chilling at the time (when the “Moral” “Majority” and similar religious “conservatives” were active). It is even more chilling now.

So when events play out and they aren’t as MRFFDaysAreNumbered predicted, what are the odds they will be gracious in their acceptance?

    Remember MAGATS, science is overrated.

No vaccines, no flu shots, no masks, gather in large crowds, lots of hugs, lots of prayer, big family gatherings! If the CDC makes a recommendation, do the opposite! As they say in the South, “you just go on with your bad self!”

Don’t forget the horse dewormer and disinfectant (you can inject it too, no worries). Get a jump on it. Take it now!

Don’t forget to stick a light up your ass so you can see where you’re going!

“If you’re happy and you know it clap your hands!” Too funny!

MAGATS – Out the Door in 24!

What’s with the gay obsession? You out of the closet yet? No shame in it. You are what you are.

Put some new words in that head of yours bruh! Think hard. You can do it!

The separation of church and State needs to prevail. The wars of Europe were oftentimes based on religion, and we are seeing the exact same phenomenon here in America. Hate and prejudice are ubiquitous and it’s all these Christian fascists at work to force us to comply. NO NON NEIN NYET.

  13. MRFFDaysAreNumbered July 7, 2023 at 10:51 am

There is a separation of church and state, dummy. Youre allowed to go practice your godless heathenism anywhere you want.

The Texas Senate passed a bill that requires the Ten Commandments to be displayed in every public and charter school classroom and also sets aside time for prayer and Bible reading time.

It requires the Commandments to be displayed on a 16 x 20 poster or framed copy, starting with the text, “I am the Lord thy God!” No you’re not! You can fuck off!

Just another effort on the Christian Right to theocracize this country, one State at a time. To Lizanne’s comment, the New Gilead is forming right before our eyes.

But it’s not going to work because Republicans can’t think beyond the end of their noses. They haven’t thought through the 2nd and 3rd order effects.

While they may think they’re cute, I can send my child to school with a copy of Sam Harris’s “Letter to a Christian Nation.” Or Chris Hitchens’ book, “God Is Not Great!” AC Grayling’s, “The Good Book.” Or plenty other non-Christian secular titles to choose from.

The set-aside time will soon come to a head with copies of the Quran showing up, the Bhagavata, the Abhidharma, the Gnostic Gospels, the Analects of Confucius, and many others. Talk about Texas heads exploding! “Well now, we didn’t mean fer y’all ta show up wif at dare funny relijun stuff. Next thing ya no, y’all be bringing in them there wich books! Is here’s a Christian State and y’all caint be readun anything sept the Christian Bible!

The good news is that the bill is dead after failing to get a critical vote by the House!

    Gilead postponed – for now!

They’re also working on a way, nationally, to pull funding from public education and funnel it to private Christian schools and even home-schooling.

In other words, they want to let the money follow the child. If you can afford Montessori, or other private school (in my case, non-secular), then you take advantage of the money following the child. However, it’s a terrible move for our country, the US scores 38th in match scores and 24th in science and that will decline further by stripping public education funding.

The latest political moves to ban books with one parent complaint and efforts to pass parental educational rights bill will further erode US standing imo. Made up CRT issues fabricated out of whole cloth, the “don’t say gay” bill, etc.

All that to say the Christian Right is doing everything it can to destroy this country! Write to your legislators! I recommend NOT using civil tone when you do! They have to know you’re pissed! And write often!

Thou shalt not whine about things that do not affect you in any meaningful way.

Thanks for showing us one of the basic differences between the authoritarian personality and decent people: no concern about anyone other than yourself.

  17. MRFFDaysAreNumbered July 8, 2023 at 11:14 am

Authoritarian like the folks that demand we use their imaginary pronouns or risk being fired from their jobs or possible criminal charges? Authoritarian like demanding folks take an experimental vaccine or losing your job? hmmm
