United Press International (UPI) Covers Christian Nationalist Rep. Mike Turner’s Unconstitutional NDAA Amendment to Shut MRFF Down

capitol-building-9
Christian nationalist Rep. Mike Turner’s amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to SHUT MRFF DOWN by making it ILLEGAL for members of the military to even communicate with MRFF is now part of the GOP-led House’s version of the NDAA, WHICH HAS BEEN PASSED BY THE WHOLE HOUSE WITH TURNER’S DESPICABLE, VINDICTIVE, AND UNCONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT STILL IN IT!!!
If Turner’s amendment is allowed to remain in the final, bicameral version of the NDAA, it will obliterate MRFF’s ability to protect and advocate on behalf of our service members facing religious discrimination, harassment, and aggressive proselytizing!
Should that happen, MRFF Founder and President Mikey Weinstein has vowed:
“We will go into federal court, not quickly, but at lightning speed, warp speed.”

I have a better idea. Let’s get rid of religion in the government completely. Defund the military’s chaplain corps.

As much as I’d personally like to eliminate the Chaplain branch of the military I respect the rights of others to worship as they see fit.
What I would prefer are regulations specifically addressing any proselytizing, meaning the willful shoving of one’s faith on their fellow military personnel. It’s all about context and appropriate settings; mentioning one’s faith in a mandatory meeting is not appropriate. Talking about one’s faith in personal time is not so bad.
Once the ranks of the higher ups are cleansed of the Nationalist Christians the situation can be revisited.
Of course I’m not in charge, just a civilian with an awful lot of time for thinking.
“Once the ranks of the higher ups are cleansed of the Nationalist Christians the situation can be revisited.”
Sounds just like something Hitler would say.
I know a prospective Army recruit who is being trained by his DoD-recognized church with the intent of proselytizing while in the Army.
So… insisting humans uphold an oath they voluntarily took when entering the military is exactly like mass murdering millions based on the illogical premise that specific genres of humans are not as equal as others? Wow. Just wow.
Also, is Godwins Law even a thing anymore? If so, I just won the interwebz!
ByeBye Benning, you are late to the party. My relatives and their tribe (Fundamentalist Evangelicals) have been doing this since the late eighties. Where have you been?
Calm down Eva.
After reflection my statement “Once the ranks of the higher ups are cleansed of the Nationalist Christians the situation can be revisited.” needs to be revised.
When I said cleansed I should have used different words not already loaded with cultural context.
As much as I despise Nationalist Christians and Nazis (but I repeat myself) I recognize as citizens of the USA they have the right to believe what they believe. They do not however have the right to codify their beliefs into laws governing everyone meaning Nationalist Christians like the Lt Gen mentioned in another post do not have the right to force their sincerely held beliefs onto the rest of the population.
Do I want all Nationalist Christians fired or demoted from positions of power after they’ve violated the rules and regulations they swore an oath to obey? Oh hell to the yes.
Do I want them killed? No.
Ha! Death is a mercy and I’m a bit of a sadist in wanting to see Christian Nationalists living in a society where their relevance and power have waned. But that is just me.
Thanks for clarifying your sadistic wishes for Christians, Greydolf.
Lalalala, so you deny me my sincerely held beliefs?
I’m not trying to codify what I believe into law for everyone, Nationalist Christians are and yet, you only condemn me. Huh. It’s almost as if you didn’t have hypocrisy you’d have no beliefs at all. Weird, innit?
Added note – I’m applying the same “love” that’s been shown to me – isn’t the verse do unto others as you’d have them do unto you? Well, I’m applying it here. And by the way, not all Christians are Nationalist Christians. It’s telling Lalalala believes I’m talking about all Christians. I bet they think they worship the only correct way and everyone else is not a Twue Christian (patent pending, trademark under review).
Maybe there is something about the Golden Rule stuff, I mean, it couldn’t be Nationalist Christians have treated anyone who doesn’t pass their purity test worse than dog poop and therefore are now worried they will get the same treatment, could it?
