“Last month – I interviewed an Air Force Academy cadet, who spoke on condition of anonymity, about her experience with a Christian professor who is an active duty military officer. The professor’s Christian beliefs blurred and in fact crossed the line between educating and evangelizing. In her comparative religious history class, the cadet explained how her professor made derogatory comments about non-Western customs, denoting these traditions as “weird” or “odd.” While not outrightly stating her religious beliefs, the professor’s full-court press advertising for Christianity was shortly to follow.

“When it was time for the class to learn about Christianity, all critical distance vanished. The professor outrightly endorsed Christianity to her students, defending her religion against criticism from non-believers. She preached how Jesus is accepting and can forgive those who do not believe if they accept Him. When my source followed up with the professor after class to question her proselytizing, the professor maintained she was simply “sharing her truth” with her students and so was not at fault.”

Yet more evidence that the Air Force is not taking military regulations and the constitutional rights of cadets and others in its ranks seriously. Year after year we see that the MRFF is needed now as much as ever.

  2. Tom Morrow March 17, 2024 at 12:26 pm

Hmm… no corroboration of this from any other cadet. Not exactly the highest of journalistic standards being used there.

  3. Jeff March 17, 2024 at 1:20 pm

There’s a lot of corroboration from many other cadets and other service members. You only need to see the many letters and messages written to MRFF by service members in all the various service branches for many years about this same issue, to see the corroboration.

I would think Christianity is preferred to all the other confusing and twisted indoctrination going on in our schools today. Christ is about love and caring for the needs of others and being faithful to God’s commands, while the other garbage being spewed out on our defenseless children is Satanic and evil.

  5. John P. DeMeritt March 17, 2024 at 8:21 pm

Frank Allen, if, as you say, “Christ is about love and caring for the needs of others and being faithful to God’s commands,” why would anyone who is truly convicted of Jesus’ commandments to love and care for others ever choose to enter service to country that clearly calls upon us to be ready to go anywhere, at any time, and do whatever the President requires of us — including kill — without hesitation?

And let’s talk about Satan for just a moment . . . You do realize that Satan is a wholly Christian concept, don’t you? Ha SaTan, mentioned in the Book of Job, is God’s loyal and faithful servant. Ha SaTan’s job — and Ha SaTan is a JOB TITLE, not a personal name — is to search for those who appear to be righteous and find out if they’re really as righteous as they appear to be. Satan is Christianity’s God of All Evil, and has to be, since Christians posit that their God is All Good.

The fact remains that the US Constitution, the US Code, and both DoD and Service directives require that commands be entirely equitable in their treatment of religions — ALL religions — giving preference to none and showing respect for all. And if that’s too much for you to deal with, maybe you need to find another line of employment. There are plenty of Americans of different faiths and no faiths willing to serve their fellow citizens.

Christianity is to MAGATville as water is to whine (pun intended)!

Donald “Small-Johnson” is to Democracy as Putin is to Progressive values and fair elections.

If you want to know what a next Trump term would look like, look no further than Putin’s comrades in the U.S. House of Representatives led by Moscow Mike, their Project 2025 plan on full roll as they wend their way to autocracy and complete dismantling of the U.S. Constitution, 2024 the last election your grand kids will ever see!

If you think that’s hyperbole, hide and watch!

Joe Biden’s landslide victory over Trump in 2020 wasn’t so much about Joe Biden as it was a rebuke of Trump! The same applies in 24, albeit on steroids given the balance of democracy in this country teetering on a precipice.

The first thing ANY autocratic regime does is purge the opposition, much like in Nazi Germany, Russia, China, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Iran, et al.

If you want to know what an autocratic America looks like, look at these countries.

Your so-called healthcare system will be completely dismantled, climate will suffer, standards and regulations protecting public health completely destroyed, a National abortion ban and criminalization of women, their place in the kitchen (like Katy Britt’s SOTU rebuttal), barefoot and pregnant, zero social security, Medicare, Medicaid. Pre-existing health conditions denied, most service industry jobs providing zero health insurance. No retirement programs, work till you die. The U.S. military used in domestic “policing” of the populous, media completely dismantled with only “approved State-run Orwellian outlets,” Christianity established as a National State-mandated religion, in other words – Gilead! A fenced border to keep the populace contained, only those “party members” allowed to travel.

Democrats! Get out the vote! If you never ask for more than you’ve got, then you have to be happy with what you have! But you’re not gonna like what’s coming!

Even MAGATs will hate it but won’t say anything about it because they’re vested in their fictionalized outcome, their own neighbors part of the new “Black and Tans,” in full denial of their own repression.

The Jim Jones of American politics is on the ballot selling a Titan submersible for you to ride on into your theological submersion into the abyss.

MAGATs – Out The Fucking Door In 24!

Trump – Lock his ass up!

Christians – take back your religion!

    Democrats – VOTE!

Your words are meaningless. Remember your promise to leave the country if Trump is re-elected. If you dont, you are a coward and a liar.

If Christianity is about love and caring as Frank claims, then indoctrination of religious beliefs of any kind into children in schools, including Christianity, is contrary to Christianity. The fact is that the Christian extremists pushing their religion onto others in schools and in our armed forces are hypocrites who dress up their bigotry and authoritarian beliefs in religion and the benign figure of the biblical Jesus in order to justify their actions. All religions expound the Golden Rule – loving your neighbor as yourself. In practice, though, many Christians in the US have abandoned the humanistic philosophy they falsely propound to be unique to Christianity in favor of ugly, blunt bigotry that they seek to normalize and cement into law. True patriots and decent folks need to stand up and be counted in protecting religious freedom, before it’s complete gone.

I have a few observations on the comment section, specifically how did Tom Morrow expect corroboration when the interviewed cadet preferred to remain anonymous? By the way, remaining anonymous while standing up to religious bullies is totally necessary in today’s military surrounded as they are by their “loving” Christian fellow cadets.

Mr. Morrow’s lack of curiosity and observation skills means he missed the facts, so here they are, spoon fed as one would a baby: the MRFF has 80K+ clients, all service folk or cadets who’ve had to deal with exactly the circumstances described in the article, Christians using their position of authority to browbeat subordinates into attending the same church as the commanding officer (or their spouse), never mind if the church is of the same faith as the subordinate. Seems that would be enough validation but nope, not for Mr. Morrow, they of the “If I didn’t see it, it didn’t happen” school of thought. Perhaps if they’d explored the website a bit more they would not have embarrassed themselves.

Next point, if one has never experienced the in your face privilege expressed by Christian nationalists the comment left by Frank Allen is prime. “I would think Christianity is preferred to all the other confusing and twisted indoctrination going on in our schools today.”

Huh. In a nation where church and state are supposed to be separated, it sounds like Mr. Allen is all in for Christian theocracy.

As a matter of fact Mr. Allen, the religion one professes to follow as an adult depends on the country and region where they were born and raised. It’s not because your side is better than anyone else’s side. It’s all about where you landed, nothing more.

Franks lack of imagination not withstanding, their homophobic dog whistles in their next sentence work just fine – Sir, the only twisted indoctrination going on in schools these days is Seven Mountains Dominionists doing their best to take over Public education in order to deny everything already proven scientifically. Also, the mere talking about the existence of LGBTQA+ citizens is not indoctrination, it’s education, letting students know it’s ok that their fellow student has two dads or two moms, that families come in all shapes and sizes.

There are a significant number of White Christian Supremacists who are terrified because the reigns of power which they’ve held with an iron fist for at least one (if not more) centuries are slipping through their fingers. It’s almost as if they fear being treated like those they demonized and demolished with their hypocritical holy zeal. If only there had been some clues or hints in that holy book they like to wield like a cudgel…. if only….

Oopsie Daisy wants those being funded with US tax dollars to spend that money in foreign countries rather than the U.S.

The ignorance is palpable, so MAGAT, so Christian National. Like the Laffer curve, if you cut Govt revenue – wait for it, this is hard for a MAGAT – you’ll have less revenue!

Ignorance is Bliss – in MAGATville!

Diaper Don – Lock His Fat Ass Up!

MAGATs – Out The Door In 24!
