MRFF Files Federal Lawsuit Against Dept. of Veterans Affairs After Three Years of Deliberate FOIA Request Obstruction
On April 12, 2022, after receiving a steady flow of e-mails over several years from veterans reporting that the Patriot Stores in VA medical facilities were selling only Christian books, MRFF submitted a FOIA request to the VA.
MRFF’s request sought the documents that would reveal how the ironically named “Choice Books” — which offers no choice for veterans and their visitors except Christian books — obtained an exclusive contract with the VA to be the sole book supplier for all VA medical facility Patriot Stores.
From the many, many photos sent to MRFF by veterans across the country, it is abundantly clear that the large displays of Choice Books Christian books that dominate the Patriot Stores, some filling whole walls, provide the only “choice” of reading material, with no other non-Christian books available.
After three years of being stonewalled by the VA to prevent us from getting these documents, MRFF has said enough is enough, filing a federal lawsuit last Friday against the VA to force it to obey the law and release the requested documents to us.

Violation of the establishment clause, unconstitutional.
Despite the gnashing of Christian teeth, the United States is not a Christian country. In fact, it’s secular.

Remember the Louisiana law mandating the Ten Commandments in all school classrooms? Batted down as unconstitutional, against the establishment clause.
Texas just passed a bill to do the same. State Rep Candy Noble authored a bill and then debated it both, on Saturday and Sunday (Jewish & Christian sabbaths), in violation of the very Commandments she wants put up in classrooms! The take-away is, there are exceptions to all God’s Commandments (especially the one where he knocked up the virgin wife of another man! Oops!). He’s a “Do as I say, not as I do,” kind of guy. In fairness, he is very old.
Soon to be batted down as unconstitutional just like in Louisiana.
Same for the VA. A contract for the peddling of solely Christian propaganda is a violation against State mandated religion.
Bu poor persecuted Christians feel like they have a right to State-mandated displays of Christianity because, in the case of the VA, Christians don’t go there for health care, they go there for the Sermon on the Mount!
Make no mistake, a vendor in the VA selling purely Christian martial IS a public display of the VA’s position on religion and therefore, the government of the United States. Clearly unconstitutional.
Akin to mandating the Shahada in all school classrooms as a “historical document,” as they like to hide behind, “There is only one God and Mohammad is his messenger!”
Christians would go into apoplectic seizures!
Another MRFF victory on the horizon, preserving religious freedom for all veterans and military members.

And ….. speaking of lawsuits, Yrump “runs his suck,” and gets batted down – again – in the courts! His tariffs are illegal. Which should make MAGA happy, the stock market responding positively to not blowing up world trade.

Totally OT – news from the Resistance – when you are at a protest this month (and going forward if the technique works) and you see someone purporting to be a fellow protestor causing violence and mayhem you sit down. Not your job to stop it, unless said person is causing harm to another. That said, when you sit down your neighbor will do the same. If your neighbor sits down you also sit. This way those who are in the throws of violence will stand out to those policing the event. The resistance already knows our opponents plan to infiltrate our protests. We already know their intent – to trigger more and more violence allowing the FOTUS admin to declare whatever emergency powers they’ve been dying to invoke. When we sit, we expose those doing the violence to the authorities who are never far behind the violent ones. Weird how that works, amirite?

Home schooling thrives in Florida when State stipends to the parents are involved – at taxpayer expense. And while little Johnny’s parents are getting home-schooling education money from the State and Feds, the rich are getting a taxpayer funded subsidy from the working class, for the private schools they were already sending their kids to. A discount for the rich but not you. That $10,000 in education money you get from the government ain’t gonna get your kids a spot in private schools, unless you’ve got another $20 to $30 grand to add to it. Which you don’t, so – home schooling! Completely unregulated, no standards to live up to, but hey, extra easy money for mom and dad.
Rich kids are going to be running the company, serving on the board, owning your service sector kids that struggle to get a job because ….. they got educated while middle class kids helped buy mom and dad a new car on credit with their government subsidy for home schooling.
So, the Taco Man’s $5 Trillion he claims he got from Saudi, UAE, and Qatar, is a bald faced lie, like everything else that comes out of his pie hole or other orifice.

Grey One, this is off topic, but did you know that glitter has a MSDS? My wife worked in an arts supply store for awhile, and of course, had to go through the Material Safety Data Sheet book to familiarize herself with the potential hazards of the stuff she’d be working around. And what the MSDS for glitter said about the product was scary!
When I learned glitter having a MSDS, the instructor at University of Houston, Clear Lake’s decree that any student turning in a project or portfolio with glitter on it would FAIL made sense!

The number of our fellow citizens who believe the propaganda spewed by the White House press secretary is scary. Also scary is… well, just about everything here/now.
We keep going through the motions but when it comes down to it, if MAGA has their way, our current way of life will go the way of the Dodo. The resistance is real and each of us are doing as much as we can for as long as we can.
Rather than give in to despair I am reminded that sometimes when it appears that things are falling apart they are really falling into place. I am reminded that to a three dimensional being we can’t see/know what is occupying the other dimensions (think of the display wherein a two dimensional being encounters a sphere – the circle would start as a point, grow and then shrink to a point before disappearing). We don’t know what we don’t know.
