Mister Sneeze seems bound and determined — despite his pronouncements to the contrary — to substantially reduce readiness and capability among the various branches of the armed forces! By artificially creating circumstances determined to eliminate people deemed “undesirable”, the current SecDef is likely to hollow out the force by eliminating people currently posted to positions. These people are trained, experienced, and in position to do what needs done to support America’s security interests around the world. Removing them from the force would create voids that will be more difficult to fill. We will have to recruit, train, and prepare new people — and we’ll do it from a smaller pool of people than is currently available. We will spend a lot more money filling gaps our “leaders” created without sufficient justification. And even if we manage to recruit enough people to replace those lost to misogynist, racist, religious discrimination, it’ll be a long time before we fully recover the capabilities we’ve tossed!

I thought the military was based on a meritocracy, at least at the lower ranks. If you met the specifications then you got the position. Metrics were the focus, not ideology.
