Good morning,
First, I would like to thank you folks for the work that you are doing. For the longest time, I have been concerned with comingling of the Christian faith and the US military. Every time there is an incident, such as the most recent speeches commanders have given their troops, I grow concerned with how the perception of a “Christian” military creates danger for soldiers and citizens at home and abroad.
Before today, I did not know that your organization existed.
I am inquiring about whether there is a need for assistance. I am a law student at (college name withheld) College of Law and am employed at a municipal law firm in (city withheld). Through my employment and participation with the moot court team, I have grown familiar with constitutional law. I have written briefs and motions presented in federal court and am comfortable writing persuasively on First Amendment issues.
Would love to assist the MRFF’s mission in a pro bono capacity with supervision as I am not yet barred.
Let me know if you would like to set up a call.
Best,
(name and name of law school withheld)

What is wrong with you people? This is the US military we have freedom of religion. You have no right to support the statements that are currently coming out of the White House about religious wars. Shame on you for including the name of Jesus Christ in the current military operation that is going on you better get control of your commanders you guys are woefully not doing your job shame
Oh Jacob Wigant, I feel your pain and your rage over what are clear violations of our Constitution.
You are not alone. That said I need to make a distinction as to who exactly is corrupting our military here/now.
There is a difference between Christians and Nationalist Christians. Christians are your regular hotdish bringing to potluck kind of folks of all denominations and cultures (everyone has hotdish – ingredients found in your pantry or cold storage combined in a deep dish aka casserole if you are from the Midwest, and baked to bubbly goodness. Cheese may be involved depending on your location). They follow the Jesus of their holy book and focus their devotion and good works to the Sermon on the Mount where he tells everyone not to be a jerk to each other. Those are Christians.
Nationalist Christians have undergone several rebranding campaigns. They started back in the day as Born Again Christians, those super conservative evangelical fundamentalist Christians who believe the Christian holy book is the literal words of their deity as in their deity wrote the book, not humans inspired by their deity. Fast forward through the Moral Majority (they were neither), the Tea Party (secretly funded by Murdoch Ent), and now MAGA which is political with a hard White Supremacist crunchy center surrounded by Christian icons but little to no teachings of their supposed lord and savior.
If you need more information I suggest Monte Mader. She’s on most of social media but I believe her deconstruction videos are hosted on youtube. Her take on Christian Nationalists is epic as she was raised Nat-C. Some of the things she believed to be true until her deconversion are wild but those are her stories to tell.
This isn’t a new thing is what I’m saying. I can’t speak for anyone else but I’ve been fighting the good fight against the Nat-C’s since LGBTQIA+ Civil Rights was a dream in this queer one’s brain. And all along the Nat-C’s were not shy, they told anyone who would listen that they were coming to conquer the nation in the name of their religion.
Guess all those violations of the Johnson Amendment should have provided a clue but here we are.
