Mikey is busy, so I try to help by responding to some of the messages that come our way. But I have to say I find it hard to figure out how to respond respectfully when a message such as yours comes to me.

Think about it. How does one respond to a person who sends a foolish message? Should I just assume you are nothing but a fool and leave it at that? I’m of the opinion that just as no one is only the worst thing he has ever done, it is also true that no one is only as stupid as something he writes.

But help me out here. You don’t know Mikey, so how do you arrogate to yourself the right to call him names? What is one to do with the fact that you are wrong about him, wrong about the work he does, wrong about his attitude about Christians and wrong about all the other inane things you’ve said in this moronic message?

What does stand out a bit is your apparent bias against Islam and the president. Those comments say a lot about you, but nothing you should be proud of.

I guess there may be some value in your having expelled some of the pus in your system by spewing this hatred, but what you unintentionally make clear is that there’s such rot in the place where your thoughts reside that there’s no room for decency or wonder or even consideration, the kinds of things that one expects a human being to be capable of. That’s a shame.

So I guess the best thing I can do is send you my best wishes and my hope that you grow up.

I’m afraid Mr. Weinstein is not the sick one here. I know him to be a fair minded and honest man who is currently leading the Military Religious Freedom Foundation in the battle against coercive and command centered Christian proselytizing in our armed forces.

Mr. Weinstein has no fixation against normal practicing Christians, only those who would promote their tainted faith into law.

Dominionist Christians are determined to make America a Christian nation and ultimately the world a Christian world. This is about as unAmerican as it gets.

MRFF is currently addressing nearly 40,000 complaints from our young men and women in the military as to their having been submitted to such unconstitutional activity.

Your racist attitude is proof positive that you bear far more prejudice than Mr. Weinstein has ever shown toward anyone.

It seems that you are more interested in getting riled up than you are in understanding the issues at hand. MRFF does not have a ‘fixation against Christians.’ Our focus and efforts are to ensure that the rights of all military members, at all levels, are protected when it comes to their personal religious belief (including non-belief). And we only get involved when a member of the military contacts us with a concern. Unfortunately, if it seems that the majority of situations where MRFF gets involved are related to Christians, that is because it is most often Christians who are crossing the line.

I’m a Christian myself, and a former military officer, so I can assure you that it’s not all Christians who cross that line. There is a small but active group of very committed folks who believe that Christianity should have complete dominion over all aspects of our lives — societal, governmental, and military. It is these Dominionists who apparently feel it’s okay to ignore the very reasonable limits about the appropriate time, place and manner for a military leader to express a personal religious belief, because they believe the ‘truth’ of their message trumps the rules. But they are mistaken — our military is not a Christian force, it is comprised of all manner of believer and non-believer, and no leader has the right to use his position to promote or give prominence to his own religious beliefs.

As for your nasty attacks on Mikey Weinstein — I know him to be an honorable and courageous man. He deserves the support of every person who believes in our Constitution, and he certainly has mine.
