Hi (name withheld) –

Mikey has read your brief, curious email and shared it with me…. and I feel compelled to ask, just what is it that Mikey or MRFF is doing that you consider “making shit up”? I’m happy to address any specifics you want to discuss… but your odd note is leaving me puzzled.

To be sure, there are things that Mikey says that rile people up — he would agree that he is often very direct and undiplomatic. But the mere fact that some people don’t like what he has to say, or what MRFF represents, doesn’t mean that our position is not valid.

So please, let me know what you’d like to discuss and we’ll have at it.

I’ve been asked to respond to your odd message and I’m just a bit flummoxed. So please help me out a bit here. Just what shit is it that you’d like Mr. Weinstein to stop making up?

When one is as laconic as you’ve chosen to be, there is a danger one can be misunderstood.

Mr. Weinstein is the object of a lot of attention, as you may be aware. Some of it is adoring and appreciative and some is not. I’ll assume yours falls into the “not” category, but one must be cautious, you know?

So how do I figure out which shit it is that you think he’s making up? He’s not making up the fact that he works hard to protect the right of freedom of religious belief or non-belief of our servicewomen and men, so it can’t be that. He doesn’t hate Christians, so it can’t be that. He’s not an atheist, so it can’t be that. He’s not a communist, so it can’t be that.

I guess I just have to give up and ask you to be more explicit about just what shit it is that you think Mr. Weinstein is making up. Once you can be clear about the shit you’re concerned with – and I realize it’s not all that easy to be clear about shit, but since shit seems to be the substance you find most compelling – I’ll be happy to do what I can to take care of the shit that troubles you and get your mind clear of all this shit.
