Republican congressmen are demanding the return of bibles to displays. The Hill quotes their argument:
“The Establishment Clause does not require that you remove Bibles from the Missing Man Table displays,” the lawmakers wrote. “The mere presence of a Bible coerces no one.”

“The Establishment Clause exists to ensure that the government cannot affirmatively impose or elevate on(sic) religion over another,” they added. [emphasis added by me]

So by their own admission (bolded above) if they are going to have the Bible in the display, they must also have, equally prominently displayed, the Qu’ran, the Bhagavad-Gita, and all the other sacred writings of the various religions of the world, including agnostic, atheist, deist, and humanist literature. Particularly desirable for the sake of equal space would be a copy, right beside the Bible, of Bertrand Russel’s Why I Am Not a Christian.

    Nicely stated Bret.

    The congressional oath states:
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.

As I understand it, the “So help me God” part is optional.

These congressional leaders who insist their faith be represented to the exclusion of all others are committing treason. Actually, I’m not seeing much difference between Congress and Rev Bob.

There is a solution – VOTE!!!!!
